Folks, send in orders, let’s help them out. I was going to buy a Larue rail for my next project, but I’m going to change my mind and get a DD instead. I know my $330 is only a drop in the bucket but if we all keep ordering, maybe we’ll make the difference.
I would bet they produced too many of their AR’s during the craze, banking on cashing in. While all the other AR’s were being bought up I noticed there was always a DD sitting on the shelf at my local gun store. I hope they get past it, I love their rails.
ETA: I just realized that they are a sponsor here, and I want to clarify that beyond what I have seen this is an unfounded assumption, and by no means meant to insult Daniel Defense. I love their product line and will continue to be a customer of theirs.
Many small ones are. The floodgates opened a month or two and guns, magazines, etc are available everywhere and you still cannot sell them.
I have over 3000 PMAGs for example that sell slowly (still have some backorders where the people do want them still) and you cannot give them away at great discount.
i was fortunate to tour their facility and meet some of the folks down there a few weeks ago when I was on vacation back in Savannah…
great facility and great people…their XV rifle may be the best deal on the market right now…hopefully folks realize that and things turn around for them!
I’m gonna order an Omega 7.0 on Monday to help them out. I have my wish list and the Omega is on it…but its not next in line so I’ll just bump it to the top and hope my $280 makes a little difference for DD.
I didn’t know about the fireplace and garage door business side of them. However; I don’t see them dissapearing. They may pull out of the M4 fight for a while but they do make one of the best, if not the best, rails and other accesories. The Ar/gun business is tough for everyone. It’s either feast of famine. Obviously once they ramped up for higher production of their M4’s the demand dropped. I see many other companies following suit to include going out of business. Again, i don’t see DD closing it’s doors, their rails have become a standard to meet.
I have been purchasing Daniel Defense accessories for most of my rifles and I have been very pleased with the quality. They make an excellent product and I for one hope that they are able to ride out this recession too.
Reading the article linked in the OP, I noted that they recently moved to a new facility and have been expanding the company. Lets hope that they didn’t grow too fast & too big, which results in some businesses folding-up.
My thoughts are with those employees and their families who were laid-off. I sincerely hope things turn around for Daniel Defense. It would be a shame to lose such a quality product from the AR market.
Daniel Defense is making the best rifle available for the money now. It will just take time for people to catch on to the name. Hopefully, between their innovative mounts, sights, and making barrels for other people they’ll be able to pull through.
The post-Obama gun boom is pretty much bust. I never begrudged the dealers that “gouged” one bit as I knew they were going to face the same hard times as everyone else, if not worse because the truth of the matter is that all this stuff is really just a luxury.
That sucks…I’ve been waiting for months on a 6.8 SPC upper, whats holding the build up is the wait on a DD 12 in. rail…Hope they come out ok, they make great stuff.
I have been hearing rumblings of several manufacturers in the industry laying off workers. It seems the Obama Effect has come to a halt and manufacturers (and retailers) have been caught with too much inventory, too many workers, and not enough orders to sustain them. I hope the good folks at DD come through this and emerge stronger than ever.
