12.0 Free Floating Rifle Length

Description
The Daniel Defense 12.0 Free Float Rail System was the first handguard designed and bulit by Daniel Defense and it is a tremendous upgrade for users who require a light and rugged rifle with long range capability.

This rail is machined from the highest quality aircraft grade hardened aluminum yet it only weighs 13 ounces (including the threaded ring, barrel nut, and indexing pins)! The high strength and low weight of this remarkable handguard contributed greatly to its adoption by the United States Army for the Squad Designated Marksman Rifle program.

The Daniel Defense 12.0 rail system helped deploying Army units issue a squad level precision rilfe that bridges the gap between infantry rifleman and a battalion level sniper asset.

The 12.0 handguard was designed to work with the AR15 riflelength gas system. It will also work with the carbine or the midlength gas system with a milled gas block that will fit under the handguard. The indexing pins are stainless steel while all other components are 6061-T6 aluminum. The finish is Mil-Spec hard coat anodized black.

The 12.0 Carbine model retails for $345.

Paul, do you carry the other length DD guards as well?

Hi Tally,

Yes, got more sizes on order.
Which one are you looking for ?

Thanks!

9.0 and 9.5 FSP mostly. I’m thinking the latter would be a good piece of kit for an an 11.5" build.

Yup, on their way in . . .

I am gonna want to see some pics . . . .

I can accomodate that

I run a DD 9.5 rail on my duty upper, and it is VERY nice. While I think its hard to go wrong with any of the DD rails, that 9.5 is extra nice for some reason.

Am I correct in thinking that the two studs I see in the pic above prevents any rotation/loosening of the rail? I’ve never messed with DD rails much.

Hi Hawkeye,
You are correct. After the DD barrel nut in torqued and aligned, the two stainless steel pins are inserted in the barrel nut at 3:00 and 9:00. The FF tube aligns into the pins. This keeps the FF indexed. This is the same way the USGI RAS FF is done.

Thanks,
Paul

The 9.5 is a super cool set up.
Daniel Defense is now exclusively making for us a 10" rail. We should have some in about 6-8 weeks. I think that will be a popular setup with a shorty barrel and low profile gas block. I am going to build one with the original DD rail and the new DD Lite rail on a BCM 11.5" . . . .

I’m a fan of the 10" rail, in case you guys haven’t figured it out

Tally’s latest BCM 11.5" build is inspiring my next 11.5" build . . . .
