Why yes indeed, I did do a search - even scanned a few pages forward to no avail. I’m wondering if anyone out there in M4C-Land has any experience, reviews - positive or negative and/or advice on the Daniel Defense 16" Middy.
Short of a lottery win, a stupidly inventive and lucrative idea, or a long lost rich dead-aunt somewhere, this will be my second and last AR-15 build. I have found myself in a more “utilitarian” mode lately and have focused my firearms collection in this manner as well. I have one M4 build under my belt - a nice 14.5 carbine - a great KISS rifle. I want this middy build to be a few steps above and am trying to put as much into it as I can. I want everything to be as close to top-shelf and reliable as possible and this brings me to the DD middy barrel. This will be my primary defense rifle…
I’m looking at a DD 16" middy complete barrel only on Bravo Company USA, ($436.00) and am wondering if there’s anything special about this barrel that justifies the price? I was hoping to add it to an existing stripped Cerro upper receiver I just purchased in a group buy from BCM, but see that the complete BCM set-up is available for shy of $100.00 more…
Is there anything ‘better’ or more desired with the Daniel Defense set-up? Another 16" barrel maker I should be looking at? Thanks so much for your help.
The thing that makes it expensive is the fact that it is a relatively rare mid length hammer forged barrel. I would get a complete HF middy from BCM, I’m kinda sick of building from parts these days and pricing on uppers is really competitive lately.
Are you sure that’s the hammer forged, mid-length barrel you are referring to? I’ve seen many standard non-HF DD barrels being sold at closeout prices. They are not exactly apples to apples in comparison. Also, it’s no secret that places like pkfirearms.com and aimsurplus.com also have pretty competitive pricing on these items.
Yeah I got mine from pkfirearms.com, Im new to the forums and didnt want to step on toes by posting non supporting sites on here. Its frowned upon on other forums I visit.

I did some math last night and the BCM, adding up a BCM BCG and charging handle, plus Troy flip-up rear, puts me in line with the Noveske Light Middy…($875.00). I got the upper receiver in a group buy from BCM for $68.00, so adding the DD barrel and all the accessories doesn’t really add up to much savings. Perhaps I’ll throw a functional, inexpensive barrel on this receiver, or save it in the parts bin…
