hack saw leaving filing finish area and dremel slowly where needed- always finish filing and then some Alumna black and you are done- go slow and plan well.
If I recall correctly, a member here named Dozer did that. You might look through the AR picture threads for one of his posts, I think that was a few years ago.

Took a mill to it

I love seeing guys do custom work on projects such as this. Milling machines can do wonders with a little thinking and a dab of risk. ![]()

Not DD rail, but similar. Quick mock up of my build.

Forgive quick phone pics and crap stuck in rail. Tried stripping off paint.
Nice work Rackit. I didnt realize you had access to a mill.![]()
Jax: I agree bud. I’ve been contemplating doing somehing similar to a spare RIS II i have laying around.
If you decide to do it CC post some pics. Would like to see what you come up with.

If someone would let me pay them to do this to a MK18 rail for me I’d love to do it. Have a 11.5" BCM upper w/ DD MK18 rail and I’d love to put the SB on there.
EDIT: Or the 11.5" KMR upper I bought on the latest sale. ![]()
but having access to a milling machine is always the rub
oh my, that’s slick. well done.
Thanks. About as hack job as they come. Dremel with a cut off wheel, carbide bit, a few hand files, and about an hour and a half of my time.
Now just to paint the thing.
