Cutting back a spare 20" barrel

I have a spare 20" COLT barrel that I would like to cut down to 10.5". Is this possible in relation to the location of the rifle length gas port? Or another question, what is the longest I can cut the barrel to if the barrel is cut right after (coming from the muzzle) the rifle gas port.

I hope that made sense?

eh, a rifle gas port is a little over 12". you can certainly cut to 10.5, but you’ll be drilling a new gas port. not a big deal.

Or if the barrel is in decent condition you could sell it and buy the barrel you really want… Colt should bring good money…
