Are their any manufacturers that would consider making a one-off lower with the bolt catch/ bolt release only on the right side. I like the LWRC design for the new PSD with full ambi controls (not just a bolt release), so I am wondering if there are any manufactures that would possibly be open to making a one-off lower with this type of idea.
There is no reason for the bolt catch/bolt release to be on the left side of the weapon. This is an antiquated design and it needs to change. Ideas like the B.A.D. lever and the Phase 5 E.B.R. only provide a partial solution to the problem instead of addressing the problem itself. There are a few companies now manufacturing lowers with ambi bolt releases, but to me personally I think having an ambi bolt catch is more important than a bolt release.
Can anyone please explain to me, that if the weapon can be manipulated better with the bolt catch/bolt release on the right side of the weapon, then why do manufactures continue to make the product the same way that its been made the last 50 years. It seems like every company in business is following the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it mentality”… that doesn’t mean you can’t make it better.
So is there any industry rep that would be willing to machine a special lower for me personally for compensation, or even machine the lower to the point of completion leaving the bolt catch/bolt release portion non-machined so I can perform the rest of the minor machine work myself.
I am just looking for a standard 5.56 lower, that accepts all standard mags and accessories, that simply has the bolt catch/ bolt release on the right side, or on both sides if necessary.
