I’m working on a lefty build and trying to find a carbine length chrome lined barrel in 1:7 with an ambi barrel extension.
Ive contacted Noveske and they referred me to lefthandrifles.com (Noveske’s left handed distributor).
Mike at lefthandrifles.com said he he could not obtain the chrome lined barrels for builds and that Noveske didn’t allow orders for items that were “not on the website.”
Meanwhile dealers like MSTN and G&R tactical can are offering custom builds with N4 barrels but don’t deal with left handed builds.
N4 would be optimal, especially since noveske already produces lefty rifles but any quality carbine length chrome lined 1:7 barrel will do. Not to mention this is becoming such a pain in the ass I’d like to just get the best barrel I can find since I don’t ever want to go through this hassle again.
Stag offers any barrel I want, as long as its 1:9.
Since nobody sells barrels with Ambi extensions I’m fine with getting one that is unported with no extension and having Adco install the extension and port later. Although I’m not sure how to obtain an unfinished barrel for this plan.
My last option is having a gunsmith swap extensions and plugging the old port and redrilling a new one, but Id rather not go that route.
The parts exist I just need some help or ideas solving this logistical problem.
Unless you are shooting bullets over 70gr or so 1-9 twist will do fine. Some folk’s think the 1-9 twist rate is better for the standard 55 - 63gr bullets. Anyway, you don’t really need to build a lefty AR. Every lefty in the US Armed Forces is shooting a standard M-4/AR-15 and I havent heard complaints. The manufacturers probalbly don’t offer very many lefty options because there just isn’t a market for it.
I am a man who knows what I want. I’m building my dream rifle not my compromise rifle. I have dedicated lefty and righty firearms and left side ejection is so much more awesome. Like I said the parts I need exist I just need someone to work with me. I don’t need anyone to fabricate anything, just order and piece them together.

I did contact Steve at Adco and he said he had no source for chrome lined barrels with an ambi extension.
I find it strange that nobody would be willing to pull a barrel off the assembly line before a gas port is drilled and sell it to me. If I can have somebody help me with that then I can send in the parts to be finished by gunsmith.
To me it looks like your only option is to buy the barrel you want then have the barrel extension removed and the ambi put on. Then have the gas port plugged and a new one drilled.
Thanks, I never thought of the barrel extension. I knew the bolt and if you were to build a true left handed “mirrored image” AR you would need a different bolt catch and charging handle.
Don’t ever compromise or settle for half-assed. Now that we have that out of the way, CMMG is about the only one who will do custom barrels that I know of. When I started out to build my SPR they were the only people that would even talk to me about what I was looking to build. And ( YES ) I got hammered with about how they were sorry and didn’t do in house work on products that they sold from many members on this site. But I took a chance and ordered anyway and this was before this clown was elected into the White house.I was told 14-21 days on delivery. 87 days and 3 e-mails later I got my barrel. built the gun that I wanted with no short cuts. and it shoots .3 to .5 @200meters with std. GI ammo. all that I can say is go for it. and good luck Patriot
Call Stag and see if you can get one of their lefty barrel extensions.
CMMG can do some very good work for you. They did have some issues a while back but they put out a good barrel. They do stand behind their work as well. I have done quite a few thing with them.
They also just released the new version of their 2 stage trigger. The triggers are very nice.
