What are some other options for the Remington 700 action in terms of after market bolt knobs? I know of Badger and Phoenix but am just looking to see the others that might fly under the radar.
Thanks fellas.

PTG … they are in stock most places.
Thanks for the heads up.
Surgeon, this is the sniper, they have a couple other styles as well. Obviously, this rifle is not yet finished.

Are they good on Surgeon actions only?
The knob is threaded 5/16-24. My gunsmith cut the knob off, tack welded threaded post on, and cleaned it up. It is not a very difficult job.
Edit: My action is a Rem 700.
Awesome. Thanks for the heads up. I’m currently putting together a custom 260 and have been browsing for different versions.
Surgeons definitely have an amazing rep and quality. Looks great as well.
I had mine done by Matt (monteboy84) on snipers hide. Very pleased with his work.
Pics of his install process…

My favorite is the Anderson Heavy Knurled Tactical Style Knob from PTG.

While I am confident enough my knob will not fail, the process that Matt uses is clearly stronger. I have also seen it done (in pics) by grinding down the knob and threading that section of the handle.
Tac Ops knob, bought mine from Brownells, love it, perfect size on my 700 VSF
Hard to beat these guys !! Looks like they won’t be doing it for a while, but the price looks good !!!

Lots and lots of bolt knobs there.
I think it’s difficult to get a hold of Matt. I’m trying to get a hold of him now. He does some nice work!
I do a lot of bolt knob installs.
I cut off the old knob and tig weld in a stud that the knob threads on to.

For others that might ask, here is how I do it…
I start out by cutting off the existing knob:

The bolt goes into the vise in a fixture that sets the angle and then it’s milled perpendicular:

A hole is driled down into the shank:

A setscrew is turned down into a pin that will lightly press into the hole:

The setscrew is pressed into the bolt handle shank:

The setscrew is tig welded to the bolt handle shank:

The bolt knob threads on to the setscrew:

Finished results:

KRG (kinetic research group) makes a polymer knob that locks on around the 700 stock knob without requiring permanent knobs. I have badger and surgeon knobs and have run this knob and it does the trick too.
