Crooked barrel or gas block or rail?

It’s hard to tell from the pictures, but something is definitely not lined up. I just had the rail installed a few weeks ago. I noticed something looked crooked but assumed it was the gas block, and everything was fine aside from it looking goofy if you paid attention to it. But the more I look at it, the barrel isn’t even straight coming out of the hand guard. I’ve yet to fire it to see how well it functions and zeros. But now I’m thinking I need to send it back to BCM. Any opinions or experience with this?

I’m sorry, I may have missed it. What exactly are you going to send back to BCM? The barrel?

I think he is saying the barrel isn’t coming centered out of the handguard. OP, don’t worry about it. Ask yourself: Does it cycle? Does it shoot straight? Does it zero? If the answer is yes, keep feeding it ammo.

The whole upper. All my other hand guards look crooked when installed on this upper. And this hand guard looks perfectly straight on my other upper. Its the only thing in can think of.

Did you remove the FSB and install that block? Because that is not factory. Please be specific when you say “the whole” upper. Upper receiver group, or upper receiver assembly.

I had that gas block installed, yes. I just can’t figure out why when I take a rail from another one of my AR’s and put it on this upper, the barrel still comes out crooked. And when I put the rail from this gun on another AR, the barrel looks perfectly straight.

With the mods done to it, I wouldn’t even venture to guess.

What are the specs? Who made the barrel? Who assembled the upper?

Sucks you perm attached the muzzle device. What are you expecting BCM to do?

For one, this is why I stay with a 16" barrel. Two-as picky as I am, if it is zeroed and functions properly, work it like a rented mule.

I have a rifle that looks exactly like that off center effect on yours. It’s a Vltor MUR1A receiver and Centurion C4 rail surrounding a Daniel Defense barrel with shaved FSB. On a good day with good ammo it’s a sub MOA rifle. Go shoot it OP and call it from the results.

Should function just fine. Question is, how much windage will have to be dialed in to zero.

There has to be more to this story. FSB removed, R&R pinned MD, a hand guard installed that doesn’t cover the new gas block and is too long to have worked with the FSB.

Get a longer hand guard that covers the gas block and the barrel scar if it bothers you, and move on.
