On work days I have a hard time eating enough protein and drinking enough water. For a long time I have been mixing my creatine in the AM before work and adding it to my water container before leaving. I usually fill the container at work when I can and ran into some ballsack water a while back. I started putting lemon slices in my container before leaving to help with ill flavors and smells. My question is could the acid in the lemon juice effect the creatine I add negatively? I already know this is kinda of an odd question.
I might be dated here, but I thought the rule of thumb was to consume your creatine with simple sugars for a better insulin response/uptake…so apple juice, grape juice etc etc. It goes without saying that you need to stay well hydrated with water as well.
If you’re having problems getting the water in because you hate or are sick of drinking water…Crystal light definitely helps and doesn’t add too much crap to the mix.
Ballsack water? I’d second the crystal light comment though.
The conversion of creatine => creatinine is temp and PH and time dependent. Lowering the PH via the lemon and letting it sit could increase rates of conversion, but that also depends on temp and time. A few hours, probably not an issue. few days, may see some conversion. I can’t give exact figures.
Appericate the response. Trying to work the creatine in at another time of the day. It just made it easier when it was part of my going to work routine. The crystal light stuff always creeps me out as I am not a fan of artificial sugars. The bad water either comes from old buildings with old pipes or water from fountain drinks machines in gas stations( most of which are not cleaned and filled with mildew and bacteria the taste and smell is evident.)
