Crawlspace storage?

I’ve just started preparing foodstores and other supplies. I have a small house(about 1000 sq ft) and no real space to store anything. I live in a tornado prone area so the attic and shed are out of the question. I figured the crawlspace would be best and it stays pretty cool in the summer and stays warmer than the ambient temp in winter. only downside it outside access. What do you think?

Also what is your opinion of Federal American Eagle 223 for stocking. I don’t have alot local except that Tula and Wolf. I am on a small budget right now and cant afford to buy a case online so I get a box a week at the local store.

I spent the biggest part of the summer under my house replacing the ductwork and I wouldn’t store anything under there.

Moisture, Bugs and Vermin plus swings in temperature would affect any stores stored under a home.

Most homes, especially older homes, have inadequate ventilation and drainage in crawl areas. I would not trust my emergency supplies to those possibilities.

Does said ammo run in your weapon?

I would use whatever ammo was least expensive and ran good. Someone here said buy it cheap and stack it deep, I agree one hundred percent. I personally use WPA (wolfs high end stuff) its no corrosive primers and powder. Mixed metal case which some guys dislike, but if your not reloading, who cares. From time to time I hear someone say its going to break my extractor, lol. I have not had any issue yet and I’m thousands and connoting. That logic doesn’t make sense to me either as my extractor is hardened tool steel and the casing is relatively soft compared to that. It shoots the same zero as green tip out of my m4. Im able to get 500 rounds hollow point or not shipped for $111.00 from ammunitionstore.com. Its been a good deal for me and my family.

I would consider the crawl space for certain items, if stored correctly. If that all the space you have, you gotta make do. Maybe stuff like gear thats seasonal (cold weather clothing, extra shoes and socks), maybe spare toilet paper and bottles of water. The knida stuff not bothered by temp flux. I would also store it in something with a water tight seal. Like a pelican case or similar, maybe a few large ammo cans that were upgraded. You can lube the seal on an ammo can and repaint it with rustolium or trunk liner paint. Makes it very secure and rugged.

Just my two cents on the matter

Another thing to consider when using a crawl space for storage is you have to go outside the home, thus exposing yourself and your stash, to access it. If you have neighbors close by will they be able to see you access your crawl space?

I would look for other means of secure, temp controlled storage.

I will have to rethink my storage plan. The ammo I mentioned functions well and is accurate enough. I just wanted to make sure cheap in this situation is good enough. I want a balance between quality and volume so I think this will work.
