Correct eye relief or off set for a 1-4 scope (flat top)
Vortex said 2" with their 1-4 viper pst (I see they offer a 3" also . Vortex mounts.)
Leopold said 1 1/2" off set with vxr 1 and their mount .

I have not made up my mind on which scope but I would think the
off set would be the same.

I want to make sure I do this correct the first time.

Also I don’t have to use the scope manufactures brand mount.

When talking variable power scopes, correct eye relief is dependent upon the scope, not the mount. The scope specs are typically posted on the manufacturers website.

The mount only moves the scope more forward or back depending upon your shooting style. For example, the Vortex 2" mount is for someone who likes to sit further back on the gun. The 3" is for someone who sits further forward.

New to this . Don’t know what would be best for me. 6 1" 210 ? 3" off set for someone that’s a tad taller the average.

The 2" is fine for it. The 3" might work too, but you don’t need that much offset. The Vortex branded mount is a rebadged American Defense Mfg Recon mount.

Thank you .

^^^^ What he said ^^^^ Setting up a rifle, shooter, scope and mount is best done in person. If you have a local shop with a good selection of scopes and mounts I would give him your business.
