My bad. I thought it was one of the guys in Cali. Yeah, that might be a bit much for a routine traffic stop.

Appears I stepped on some toes. Not surprising. As a0cake said, everyone is “turned up to 11”.
I just think its humorous that a lot of “local” cops seem to be almost playing “dress up” with their gear, as if they are trying to look like SOF or something. I see it in my area all the time. It’s not a out the militarization of the police.
There’s different units out there in my area. The rapid deployment teams have jeans and more “tactical” looking external carriers.
No departments I’m familiar with just get to dress up tactical because they feel like it.
Most external carriers are made to look as much like the standard class b uniform as possible.
I think you’re just being sour grapes without having all the facts.
If I get invited to a gunfight, you are damn strait I am putting my plate carrier on. I don’t care what I look like, I’m bringing the guns and ammo!
I don’t have all of the other pads hanging off of my stuff though. Just a plate set and a few mags.
