What exactly started the trend of regular officers looking more and more like SWAT or even SOF?
Seems like I remember officers maybe having some sort of mag carrier and a M16, now it seems like they are all loaded down in flat dark earth MICH /FAST helmets, load bearing bests, knee pads, elbow pads, plate carriers, fancy LWRCi’s (teh best guns evah!), and maybe even a shemahg.
I see pistol and AR mags, a radio, Aimpoint and flashlight, seems pretty standard. I’ve seen POGs with more crap. Now if you want to talk about the militarization of our Police that is a different and worthy topic.

I appreciate a little levity. It’s just someone busting a police officer’s chops. It’s no big deal.

Those certainly are the TAC team guys. And they are looking for a murder suspect.

I would be rolling pretty damn heavy if I was hunting an armed and well trained murderer who had put a bulls eye on my head. A little to matchy matchy for my liking, but his kit seems to be in order.

Anyone who carries a gun for a living knows “that guy” who’s maxed out his credit cards on unnecessary gear and crossed over from being sensibly equipped to a running joke.

ETA: This guy doesn’t actually seem to be “that guy” but may definitely be heading that direction (although the guy behind him is similarly equipped so it’s probably all department issue stuff). The arm DAPS they’re both wearing would bug the shit out of me.
