Cool Amercian movies you would like to see made

So many movies are reboots, SJW nonsense, and just plain bad.

With so much strife and crazy politics,
I would love to see fairly accurate, dramatic, and exciting movies - cool original ones.

Ones most people don’t even know about.

What are your candidates for this movie?

Mine would be a story from an Amercian company, an underdog, kicking ass in an Amercia from the putting a man on the moon era.

It would be the story of AMC and Trans Am racing.

The major players were all ready well established with their pony cars.
In 1968 AMC decided they were going to hop into with their new Javelin.
Two months later they had a car built and entered. They were the only company to finish every race and came in third behind Chevy and Ford. Does not sound like much. But that would be sort of like Wales saying, hey, were going to be a major world power and a year later they are behind only China and the USA.

In 1969 they came in 4th.

They came in second in 1970. Behind Ford’s Boss Mustang 302. Beating Chevy, Dodge, and Plymouth.

And then won in 1971 and 1972.

And end the story there.

After 1973, things had really changed with the fall of the muscle car, etc.

Whether nascar or SCCA/TA, the days of going out and buying a car that was essentially the base version of the prepped and raced cars was over, so for me that would be the time I lost interest in what I found exciting about that era of automotive engineering and racing.

Anyways, the rivalry, stress, danger, etc. of that 1968 to 1972 movie I think would make for a great, original movie a touch under two hours.

An eight hour eight episode Netflix or prime version might be even better if done right, but the right cast in a movie may generate more draw.

I would at least as a consultant involve James may in the production, his piece on the GT40 vs Ferrari was of exceptional quality.

That would make a great niche motorsports enthusiast series. Following seasons could be motocross from the late 60’s into the mid 80’s, and IndyCar from the early 80’s to 1995. A season could detail the history of off-road races like the Baja 1000, ISDE and Paris-Dakar.

Honestly I’ve never really been all that big into movies or video games, but one game franchise I always enjoyed was Metal Gear. I always thought making it into a movie would be awesome if done right. The story has its issues and it would definitely have to be a multi movie deal, but I think if the story line was cleaned up a bit and the right actors cast, it could be great.

Of course, Hollywood has a magical way of screwing everything up so maybe not…

Stuff like that I’d like in documentary format, not so much in a movie format.

Still waiting for the Halo movie…
Awesome story, tech, good action with gory, justified violence, sexy AI and girls with guns, and decent comedic relief(just a touch)…

Its an instant classic just waiting to be cashed in on.

The first 8mins looked good, raw, clear violence without the up close shaking camera.

I believe there is a Metal Gear movie in pre-production, right now.

I have to admit,
I personally would love some in depth series documentary.

But,
In general,
I think I would rather have a gripping movie with some big names and high exposure that exposes tons of modern Americans to just how kick ass over and over again great Americans with ability, effort, and perseverance have pulled off amazing things.

Not sure it could be done in a way that’s not boring to all but the most hardcore enthusiasts. Look at discover channel; they have to gin up the most dangerous jobs in the world with manufactured drama to get that element to tune in, and look up from their smartphones. People don’t want success alone. They want controversy and edge of your seat suspense all the time, or it won’t succeed. I would be happy with some good, accurate documentaries, made from old video and to see those people achieve what they did again. It’s too bad people aren’t doing it now and we have to resort to memories to relive that feeling of progress.

Just watch Red Vs Blue lol

Im so utterly sick of Hollywood, have been for years. I might see a flick every two-three years. Im past the point of ever really needing to see anything “new” again, mainly because little to nothing being churned out is really “new”…and this generation of so-called actors sickens the hell out of me.
My tv stays off months at a time. If hollywood fell into the ocean today- we’d all be better off, and beyond the headlines, I wouldnt notice it at all.

A Military History Channel series - 1 hour specials, with historic recreations as necessary (which would be MOST of them) - of every MoH awardee.

To know the history of those men, their life, and their moment on the battlefield that defined their legacy, would be VERY much worth watching. It would also give the video game generation some REAL heroes to look up to.

As much as I hate remakes, I’d like to see some of the classics redone, if only to get youngsters to learn what a good film is. (because they refuse to watch old ones)

Start with something like “An Affair to Remember” (Yes, old soldiers can appreciate a love story.) Instead of having photographers hounding Cary Grant on the cruise, have people posting photos on social media to expose the two as they try to avoid being obvious…

Then move on to something more exciting like “North By Northwest”. The spy could be chinese, or islamic extremists… whatever bad guy du jour…

Imagine a new adaptation of “Forbidden Planet” with modern special effects.

Though finding a set of legs like those of Anne Francis may prove easy enough, sadly there are no Cary Grants anymore…

Between the Fast and the Furious and all the RETARDED comic book movies… I’m convinced that America’s collective intelligence it at an all time low. I’ve not gone to the movies in years… maybe since Avatar was in the theaters.

I always wanted to see the Dark Tower series done. But then they put out the abortion that was “The Gunslinger” and now I hope they just stop there and not ruin it any more than they already have.

Same with Atlas Shrugged. They made a B movie version and did it quick and weak. Done properly I think it would be a great movie.

I would love to see “Blood Meridian” made into a flick. That would be seriously gruesome and awesome.

Nice. I knew they had thrown the idea around years ago but it never seemed to go anywhere, had no idea about the most recent project through. I hope they don’t screw it up.

I don’t want hollyweird anywhere near anything I might enjoy. Let them continue to make their slanted garbage on issues only they car for.

I’d think you’d want to have Penske and Donohue as central characters in that story.

In fact, you could make a pretty good racing documentary following Roger Penske and the Penske Organization from beginning to today.

Same thing I always want…

Star Wars trilogy during the Jedi-Sith Wars. Though the way Disney effed up Ep VII, VIII and likely will IX, I’m not so sure about this. I want Dave Filoni to write it, Gareth Edwards to direct it and a pack of rabid squirrels to attack JJ Abrams or Rian Johnson if they even show up in the same country where it’s being filmed. Just Jedi and Sith badassery the whole time.

Live action HALO movie would be kinda cool. I have this feeling they’d CGI the crap out of it though.

Maybe not a movie, but I always thought the TV show Jericho had a lot of potential.

WWI doesn’t really get a lot of stuff made about it. The Battle of the Meuse-Argonne would be a nice movie.

If you haven’t seen it check out The Lost Battalion, IMO one of the best modern WW1 movies out there.

I think Star Wars needs to just be left as is before more damage is done to the franchise.

I read a lot of books, mostly historical fiction and non -fiction and I could rattle off a list that I think would make fantastic movies. The caveat would be the movies would need to be true to the books and I don’t have much faith in Hollywood to do that.
