hey guys. I am trying to learn about convex grinding. I am using the sandpaper on foam + stop method to put a convex edge on few knives. So far I have done an esse rc-3, a ka-bar warthog and a buck with what I consider great results. For those of you that use a convex grind, what tips can you give me to make sure I am getting the best results possible. Also, what test do you use for sharpness(anything besides shaving, I am running out of hair!)? Thanks for the help fellas

besides shaving I just use the ol’ paper test
I after trying many different methods, including the one you describe, I use a Spyderco Sharpmaker and get great results. My goal is being able to dry shave my arm pubes and I can get there with the Sharpmaker and the aftermarket fine stone. The Sharpmaker actually does a slight convex grind when all the strokes are performed. I only use the sandpaper for my hatchet anymore.
