converting a gas system

bare with me, just joined, first time poster. does anyone have info on ares defense gsr-35 black lightening, a drop in piston conversion kit for AR type weapons. Ive been on the web site twice a week for 4 months, and cant get them to respond to my e-mails. anybody?

IIRC Denny’s guns, http://www.globaltactical.com/, has them. My understanding is they are well-received so far. The question in my mind is the long term durability.

Thanx, I talked to denny and im ordering in a couple days…
whooda thunk it.

I’ve been thinking of converting my 10.3" LMT to the ARES system, but I think my 10.5" Grendel is going to take priority w/the fundage!

lmt’s have quick change barrel, dont they?

The LMT MRP does, mines a regular barrel attachment.

I live in moline il. LM&T is about ten minutes from my house in milan.
hows that for cool!

That’s cool!

ill post some pics after i recieve and install the gsr 35. im sceptical of durability, function etc. also. but, to find out, someone has to take one for the team.

And if you would, could I ask you to measure the height of the spigot from the top of the gas port/barrel?

I’m sure a lot of people are curious how much needs to be milled out of their railed handguards to accomodate the height of the piston design.

I am interested in these as well, but I am firmly on the fence waiting for feedback from users about the durability and customer service of the Infamous ARES Defense.

Why doesn’t ARES make a gas block to go with this? I think it looks a little too flimsy for rough use.

I guess we’ll find out.

denny @ global tactical dosent take orders on saturday, so i have to wait til monday. when i talked to him thursday he said he got a few rails & he’s been trying different things. he and i kind of agreed on just chucking up A 1/2" ball mill & cut a little at a time until it fits. he told me no worries, there is enough rail to work with on my troy industries.
the troy rail installs in two peices. top-9 12 & 3 o’clock install first, bottom- 6 o’clock slides in and locks on a detent button. removable for 203 etc… it would be nice to just flip the raim system up side down for quick access to the piston, but, the detent button mechanism is in the way, to my understanding you dont need to clean them that often, so i’ll live with the inconvenience. i hope you can follow all that.
ares has a rail for this system, its just not out yet. but im a tinkerer, im gonna try it myself.
COOL! dig the lamb of god quote.

Ooooh! It’s called the Black Lightning now? That was a bad move, sounds way too much like marketing is trying to make up for something.

I think I’ll buy one and put it on my SBR (soon to be) 9mm and I doubt I’ll have a problem with it ever failing!
