I apologize if this has been covered as I read the tacked threads but couldn’t find an answer for this specific question.
If one is planning on a Colt Rail Gun and wishes to replace the FLGR with a USGI set-up - is there a great difference in parts available at Brownell’s - 10-8, Wilson, Ed Brown, etc. - for this. This will not be a duty pistol and I plan on keeping it stock aside from this change but would like it to work when used.
It’s obviously very simple and not earth-shattering - just wondering what folks who know a great deal more than myself believe.
The CRG is shipping from the factory with a full length guide rod? Both of my railguns came with the standard gi rod and plug. If it does indeed ship with an flgr, Colt and Wilson make great parts. There are quite a few options for quality gi rods on Brownells, as has been mentioned by previous posters.
I put a single sided Ed Brown thumb safety on my CRG. Fit it myself and I have been very happy. Ed Been has been my go to for upgrades and spare parts. That being said, I would have no problem using Wilson, NHC, Colt, EGW or any of the big name custom shops
ETA: I haven’t bought new basepads yet but you might look at MARS for basepads (if they sell them to have have then installed there)
The Recoil Spring Guide Rod, tactical single side thumb safety and an occassional carefully fitted beavertail grip safety are the only EB parts I have ever used on a build. The Guide Rods are nice for the money. Still gotta try the new Wilson guide rod.
