Connect two web loops?

Looking for a replacement for a couple of broken siamese slik clips. I need to join two closed loops of webbing. The siamese clips I was using broke (three in the past year), and they are expensive to replace (cheap per unit, but shipping sucks and I cannot find them local).

Anyone have ideas for alternatives? This is to connect a hydration carrier (two 1" web loops) to an older LBE vest with web loops behind the shoulder.

A good source for replacement clips would work as well, if they don’t charge $8 to ship a $.50 part.

Thanks.

take a 1" looploc like this:

dremel a slot in the middle of one of the bars, and then slip the closed web loops on it through the slot. if you’re concerned about it breaking, use two loops.

That’s essentially the fix I’m using right now (except I’m using a regular buckle (like a looploc with two slots). I found it difficult to get the darn things on. I suppose that’s a good thing - probably better off than with the fragile clips. I never thought about using a single slot looploc. That might be even better (single stress point). Thanks for the pointer.

Ironically, the new piece of kit is an Emdom-mm VHC…replacing my trusty old Camelback rig with something more compact (and high speed/low drag).

Thanks again.

Quick Links at the farm store, Zip ties in a quick and dirty pinch and those mini carabiners are 3 that spring to mind. I am sure the other ways mentioned are nicer and cleaner ways.

no prob, scary. the looplocs are sturdier than the siamese clips, i’ve found as well. hope you like the VHC. it’s a bit over-built (in my opinion), but works pretty well.

“Over-built” is a fair description. I wanted something 70oz with molle, but more than just a bag with webbing sewed on. the VHC seemed to fit the bill.

When I got it, I unzipped it to put the reservior in…and started to wonder which side of what pouch it belonged on. So I just stuffed it in. I can’t see using all the internal stuff or the ‘half way zipper’, but it’s still very well built and has exactly what I need/want (and then some).

Back to the thread:
I ordered some coyote looplocs (plus extras) to play around some with the dremel to see what fits.

Cheers,
