We are winning this fight. I have been in frequent contact with my representatives office and we are winning this fight. The votes are simply not there— at this time— for an AWB or magazine ban…
…yet I see scores of gun owners talking about “compromise”, “that wouldn’t be so bad”, and “no law abiding person would mind.”
You don’t compromise when you are winning. We are winning and any hint of “compromise” will only serve to embolden those who would honestly be happy if our entire nation were disarmed.
I certainly don’t believe in compromise on this. But I also am not confident in anything politically anymore. We were told no one wanted Obamacare, and there wasn’t the votes. Then it passed. Then we were sure the state AGs would stop it, and at least they got a case to the SCOTUS. Then we were confident SCOTUS would strike at least some of it…so now we should feel comfortable we are safe? Heck no, we are in the fight for our lives.
We are absolutely in the fight of our lives but we are beating the anti-gun crowd and now is not the time for anyone to try to placate them. It will only make them hungrier for more. We need to give them absolutely nothing to build on. If we defeat them soundly now it might buy us a few more years until the fight goes full bore again. If we give an inch they will pick us apart for the next few years instead.
Since 1934 we have consistently given in. What have we gotten for our efforts to reach “common sense” legislation and compromise? NOTHING. So I saw “not one more inch”.
Compromise means both sides give something to get something. Until their side offers us something meaningful, I cant in good conscience offer them anything.
Yep… many Canadians refused to comply and it simply went away.
I think the NRA hears us loud and clear. I’m not seeing any give in them this time around, unlike times in the past.
Our one Democrat Senator was on local radio the other day and he says he won’t vote for gun control either. He also says there is NO support for Feinstein’s bill.
Never give in.
In 1994 we didn’t have the internet to bring us together, distribute information, and access to data easily from the FBI.
Only any idiot would support Feinstein’s bill and stand chance at getting reelected. She hopes to start with something so over the top by the time it makes it through the Senate and House it will only be so watered down. By the time it’s all said and done I think we’ll have less gun restrictions (or hopefully none at all) than 1994 and more focus on nut job mental health, stop them trying to buy guns, and more comprehensive background checks.
I’m not opposed to closing the gun show loop hole. Everybody know there are cases where a con in the parking lot will pay somebody twice as much for the gun they just bought and a disreputable gun owner will gladly double his money. I don’t understand why any law abiding gun owner would NOT want crime to go down. It can only help our cause and at least keep them off our backs a little longer.
But don’t think for one second Fudds and bench rest shooters that don’t shoot ARs won’t throw us under the bus to keep their shotguns, hunting rifles, and bolt actions.

There is not 1 more fucking gun law or rule that I will abide by. I am from IL and have followed the laws to the T for twenty years. And for what? No more. No more will I abide by laws that put me at risk. We have ‘compromised’ on everything for as long as I have been alive and the leftist pukes always want more. Enough is enough.
I’m tired of being used, taxed and treated as if I’m GUILTY for being a hard working, single, white, American man. Any compromise will push them to try and go all the way. The King needs to stay out of my pocket, out of my business and out of my yard.

Thank you for contacting me to share your thoughts on the tragic events in Newtown, Connecticut and your views on gun control.
On December 14, 2012, 20 innocent children and six adults lost their lives in one of the worst, most tragic shootings to ever occur in the United States. As a parent of three daughters, this was the ultimate nightmare. Like the Virginia Tech and Columbine shootings, this tragedy unfolded in what was once regarded as a safe haven free of crime and violence: a school.
I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment constitutional right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms. I own firearms and I have an “A” rating from the National Rifle Association. However, I also recognize that, like with many of our constitutional rights, our Second Amendment rights are not without limits. It is unfortunate that a tragedy of this magnitude is what is needed to prompt action, but we need to have a serious discussion on how to best avoid these kinds of mass shootings in the future. The status quo is not acceptable.
I believe our discussion should cover many issues. We can start by improving the existing criminal background check system. Currently, the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) is woefully incomplete, with many states failing to submit available records on persons who may be disqualified from purchasing or possessing firearms. With a more complete background check system, we can keep firearms out of the hands of those who have been deemed unfit to possess them.
In addition, we can take common sense measures such as passing the CAMPUS Safety Act (S. 3682), which I introduced last year. That bill would establish a national center for campus public safety within the Department of Justice to serve as a resource center and assist schools and universities in developing campus safety plans and threat assessment tools. We also need to look at changes to our mental health system so we can provide help to those with dangerous mental illnesses before it is too late. There will not be a single solution, but all of these issues and others need to be part of the conversation and I urge you to continue to express your views as we move forward.
