I’m getting ready to buy a CompM4. My question is do I need a riser to use the CompM4 with the standard M4 front sight, without the dot being obscured by the post?
Your AP m4 may have come with a riser as part of the OEM mount to begin with. It’s a spacer block that sits between the twist knob and the optic body itself and can be identified by the small holes that run along it’s length. With the “riser” installed you will have 1/2 cw with your irons.
I have an Aimpoint CompM4 and it came with the optional riser… along with two sets of mountings screws ( a long and a short set).
