A complete rifle with collapsible stock, lite 16in. barrel, A3 carbine by DPMS. What say you?
Probably has great, “Fit and Finish.” If you are going to go to the range and shoot 60-80 rounds over the course of a morning, 2-3 times a year, go for it. If your life depends on it, spend 3-400 dollars more and buy a lifesaving tool.
Just say no. Instead say: BCM or DDXV. It just does not take that much more to do it right.

Are you saying a rifle to throw behind the seat or just to run rounds made by DPMS isn’t a value at $700?

I wouldn’t trust my life to a damned thing DPMS makes. There, I said it.
There are better rifles out there for the money. DPMS, Bushmaster, Olypic Arms, etc. are good choices to avoid. If you’re not sure why then you need to make the M4C search engine your battle buddy and get smart on what it takes to make an M4 run reliably and who does it right.
Before things get too ugly, let me explain the thought behind the responses here. Most people on this forum look at the AR platform (and largely firearms in general) as tools. These tools are used to protect themselves and their loved ones. On top of that a good number of the people here are high-round count kind of people - lots of training, lots of practice, lots of carrying a gun 24/7 and making sure they know how to use it. To these people, quality (not price) is their number one concern. Therefore, they aren’t going to be too keen to save a few hundred dollars to buy a rifle from a known bad manufacturer with less-than-spec parts which are either not or improperly tested and then poorly assembled.
Most of the people here will tell you to save a couple hundred more and buy a tool that you can depend on - and with good reason - the collective experience here has seen enough garbage out of DPMS (including consistent failures) to know to stay away.
Yeah, but DPMS is “mil-spec”.

Nope, it’s a waste for $759, especially when you can get a S&W M&P15A for $90 more or a DD XV for $190 more.
DPMS does not have a reputation for quality.
to compare…i got a ddxv upper on a RRA lower for same price…
Don’t waste your money, just save a little more and heed the advice that you came to seek.

Go with a better gun for a little bit more money DD, BCM, or even Colts are just a little bit more these days.

To the OP. This has been discussed so much here that it really is redundant. Search the threads for DPMS. Read for yourself and learn the shortcomings. Save a little more money and get a DD or BCM build which will be right around 1000.00 and save yourself the headache that will come.
