Compatability issue AR-M4

Got a question. I’ve got a Rock River Entry Tac model with a Surefire can. I am about to be issued a Bushmaster M4 F/A. Would there be any problem putting the M4 bolt carrier in my AR upper and running it on full auto. I don’t know if there would be a feed ramp issue or any other problems. Thanks for any input.

I think the biggest issue is going to be with your dept, and what is approved for you to carry.

From a tech side, you do not want to switch bolts between weapons. What you need to switch from one to the other is the Bolt Carrier.

Personaly, I wouldnt want to carry either of those weapons to anything other than a plinking range. But you do have a decent can.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Surefire is not my first choice, but its not the last one either. I have my prefrences, Gemtech first, then KAC, then OPS, then Surfire and all those other squabblilng kids.

Edited to say:

I have never been to Ft Lewis, never served in 2d Batt, so “Decent Can” referred only to his suppressor, not his 4th point of contact:p

The Bushmaster is dept. issue. The Surefire can is my personal. I wouldn’t be able to carry my personal upper on the gun on duty. I’m just looking to have some (fairly) quiet fun in the backyard. So switching out the bolt carrier is all I really need to do? Thanks for the replies.

Correct me if I’m wrong here but it’s the FCG in the lower that makes the weapon FA. The OP’s Rock River doesn’t rock and roll but it is real quiet. The Bushy, on the other hand, has a happy switch but is noisy. If he wants the best of both worlds, he can marry his RR upper with the Bushy lower and he’s good to go, right? What’s all this with changing bolts and carriers?

unless that’s too much of a mod- switching uppers.

He might get away with carriers and nothing more.

The BCG is what trips the Auto Sear. If he does not have a FA BCG then the “Happy Switch” is negated.
