Compact, DEEP soft case for folded Sako TRG-22?

I am looking for a soft rifle case for my Sako TRG-22, 20" bbl with a folding stock. I’d like to transport it folded as it’s less cumbersome than a full-length stick. Folded with a to-be-added suppressor-compatible brake will bring the OAL to about 32" folded. Folding the stock makes it thicker, 3.75" thick where the stock overlaps the body. My biggest problem is no one makes a precision rifle case specific to folding rifles like the Sako TRGs or Accuracy Internationals so I have to shoehorn my rifle into something to make do.

I exhausted the Internet trying to find a short, integrated shooting mat/case with no luck so I’m going to try hunting down carbine case which would fit something like the TAB Gear Pollack shooting mat. Needs to fit the bolt, suppressor, bipod, data book, and a few 10-round mags but not too much else since the range bag has most of the essentials. I already looked at compact drag bags like Eagle’s M4 drag bag at 37" and Galati’s 38" but drag bags are heavy and too much bag. I’m going to simply throw the soft case in a Pelican 1700 if I need durable protection.

Most carbine cases (36") are designed for single rifles, which will make the case bulge like crazy if I try to stuff this thing in there. There are only a few deep, double-rifle styled carbine bags that I’ve found. Most have 853 mag pouches sewn onto them, which are useless to me. Bigger compartments or pouches should be okay. Tactical Tailor’s Covert Carry Case Double Rifle at 36" is on the top of my list so far and at $200, spendiest option but appears to satisfy my requirements. If nothing else suitable pops up that I’m unaware of, I’ll go this route.

Some of the others that might be promising that I’ve come across:
[ul]
[li]LaRue Tactical Discreet Soft Case and LaRue Tactical Improved Discreet Soft Case, I am not certain if the mag pouches are sewn on the wall or removable
[/li][li]Safariland Model 4552 dual rifle case, 36". Googlefu fails to find images of the guts other than a generic external brochure photo. Back-pack style carry according to description, a plus for me.
[/li][li]The VooDoo 36" Padded Rifle Case, can’t tell if the external pouches are sewn on there or MOLLE’ed in. I saw Condor makes a clone. Maybe they’re both clones, and I’ve read they don’t hold up.
[/li][li]The 5.11 36" Gun Case looks good, 3.5" depth should fit the rifle with minimum deformity but I don’t know how their gear stacks up. I see their stuff on clearance all the time.

Anyone have any experiences or opinions on the other cases I listed, or know of other cases or suggestions that might fit the bill? The cases need some padding. This rifle will easily survive getting kicked around and drop-kicked but I prefer to have more interesting stories behind battle scars than “it fell”.

No input? This gal needs a jacket to wear. She be cold and she doesn’t even have her glasses on.

Maybe check out a soft case for a keyboard. I was looking at this option once for a custom project.

Thanks 2ac. I ended up ordering a musical instrument bag/backpack. After browsing through keyboard bags, I came across something that looks more organic. It’s about as discrete as possible, and it doesn’t blatantly look like another type of bag so folks won’t walk up to me and ask me what keyboard I play, or what tennis racket I use. They had another, much smaller case which looks like it would work equally well as a discrete AR upper/lower breakdown case and I might order one after receiving this one and evaluating the quality.

The company is based out of the UK, called Fusion Bags. There are several product lines (F1 through F4) with decreasing protection levels for a soft case, and I mainly picked the F2 product line because of the color (two tone green). It is a “trombone gig bag”. 20mm of high density foam padding all over. All internal dimensions are the same for the product lines and they grow in exterior size from the extra pockets and thicker foam. The internal dimension is 35.4" long 11.22 wide 6.1"depth with a spacer to protect the bell of a trombone. Without the spacer, it should collapse thinner. This is perfect since my rifle is about 33" long once I put on a brake, should be about 10" tall with glass, and under 4" thick with the stock folded. $180 bones…about the same price as a US-made soft gun case so I’m taking a gamble here.

Here is the F2 pack I ordered. The differences between the F1 and F2 is mainly some cosmetics of the auxillary pockets and foam thicknesses.

A shot of how it opens up (F1 line). The pockets are perfect for a data book, tools, etc. It will open up nicely. Lots of padding. Even the strap is padded.

Thanks for the tip on the trombone bag. I have a field hockey bag, and lots of other discreet cases.

I really like the protection on the one you show here. I’ll be doing the same sort of thing for a 20" barreled Remington 700 with a AICS 2.0 stock.

Noveske has one as well but it is a bit pricey

Glad you found something that’ll work for you.

I have one of the Noveske cases. It’s made for them by Eagle Industries, and worth the money.
