Commercial Buff Tube/lower proprietary ?

I have always had AR’s with mil receiver extensions, but a family member has a Shrubmaster with a commercial tube on it. Can I just switch it out with a mil spec tube or is the lower’s threads commercial proprietary only?

Threads are the same so the switch is easy.
