i can honestly say that I have never seen a piece of dyed AR plastic in person. If it weren’t for Arfcom I wouldn’t even know it existed.
Shit, now you have me questioning my life choices, my sand mags will look much better with Sand MOE SL stock and K2+ grip than the FDE!

A few years back I wanted a black UBR stock, but cheaped out and got a foliage green that was on sale. I’d never dyed anything before, but after following a couple tutorials easily found online, I got it matching perfectly using RIT dye to the black MOE grip and fore end. Even traded it off later, with full disclosure, with no complaints from the other party.
Dyeing is a lot like stippling - nerve-wracking to do the first time, but with practice can give amazing results. It “holds up” better than paint, and I’ve seen multi-color examples that were absolutely stunning. If I were in the market for any more magazines or furniture, these would be my first choice (stipple first, then dye).
I dyed my FDE mags and furniture… Went with woodland camo. Can use electrical tape to come up with some very intricate designs.

Dozer when are the vids on how to die going to be put up ? I kind of like some of the designs in your commercial. I just ordered some yesterday, can’t wait to get them in.

Can any of the polymers be dyed, or only the sand? I would love to dye an orange shotgun set from you guys that I have but have absolutely no idea how to do so.
As far as I’m aware, I guess technically any of them can be dyed but you can only see it when you make things darker. You can’t take black plastic and make it orange but you can probably turn the sand into a bright hunting orange and flat dark earth into a darker orange. But I’ve never dyed FDE orange so I can’t be certain. Maybe a chemist out there can figure out a way to bleach black parts to a lighter color but I haven’t heard of this happening yet
Lightening can only be done by coating (painting, etc.). If you want to make a blaze-orange set black, dye will do just fine. Making it any other color in the non-orange spectrum, though, won’t be possible. Kinda the reason the sand color is so neutral/light colored - you can do a lot with it.
For those that want to play around with colors, timing, soaking, temperatures, and whatnot, I suggest buying a few packs of XTM panels in the color of plastic that you want and doing test runs. This works out a lot easier on the wallet for different colors than say, all of your PMAGs at once or your stock that you spent $50+ on. I did this with a bunch of different XTM panels and did different shades to see which one I liked before doing it on a bunch of other parts.
Please do rifle length handguards and a2 stocks!
I’m a pretty busy person these days and I dont really have time for arts and crafts projects. I think the neutral base that accepts dye is cool but I wish somebody would make a list of what color RIT dyes and soaking times would give what result. What color dye do I use to get a close match to FDE or what dyes match multicam. I would love to skip the trial and error part of this.
You could always send 'em off to someone else to do… for a nominal fee. 
There are some really talented and creative people doing finish work. If some vendor would offer camo patterns I would pay a markup for their time but…if I was paying for it I would expect a professional job.
