Got this in an email today. Never seen/heard of this setup.

me either… very curious about it. Did centurion win the new socom?

I think it’s just saying the barrel is a true SOCOM 14.5” Heavy Machine Gun Barrel. I don’t think it’s claiming that SOCOM uses that rail. The CMR is my favorite rail though, so looks like a pretty nice setup to me.

Need a MD pinned and welded if no SBR available. Looks real good too.

I love my Colt SOCOM and like this rail, but Botach is one place that I will never do business with them again. Buyer beware.

I ordered one today before seeing the buyer beware. The few orders I have made with Botach were uneventful so hoping this is the same. I ordered an extended Daniel Defense flash suppressor to bring it up to legal length. Does anyone have suggestions for a company for pinning and welding it? Thanks…

I Googled the SKU and a place called Slock Guns has the same upper.

The CMR pictured is different than the CMRs that you can buy. Interesting…

The pictures on Botach of just the upper show the new lightened version of the CMR 12 and the picture of the rail by itself and the complete rifle show the older version without the lightening cuts. I’d guess they’ll come with the new rail.

I too have ordered lots from Botach and have never got turned sideways or around by them. They are faster than PSA in shipping too.
Still, Buyer beware on most lesser known vendors or fly by night sellers. I believe in the satisfaction numbers, relying on them heavily.

I have bought streamlights on sale for low prices and clearance on shirts and pants for very mature sized men… You average guys sizes are usually sold out. Mature men Rock. :haha:

I just got screwed by them on an RMR I purchased. I now too will never deal with them again.

Good ole’ Botach. Like a siren they lure you in with those deals. haha

I got hosed by Botach about 10 years ago and wouldn’t buy anything from them for years. Then around 2010ish they had that crazy Aimpoint magnifier with twist mount deal for $299 and had to take a chance. I’ve since ordered a few other things, but I always call and verify stock with the item sitting in my cart ready to hit the pay button.

Botach is a gamble, no two ways about it, but sometimes it pays off nicely. I use Amex and will get my money back with a quickness if they screw around, so piss on them if they can’t take a joke.

ETA: To get the thread back on track, that looks like a nice upper, and it’s hard to go wrong with Colt and Centurion. The trend has been going to lighter and lighter barrels, but depending on your firing tables (mission drives gear), the heavier SOCOM can pay off. I don’t get too wrapped around the axels on my general purpose weapon weight, as long as it’s reasonable, but everyone is different.
