Colt SP6921, can we buy it?

I’ve noticed on Colt’s website in the Law Enforcement section that they advertise the SP6921 as well as the SP6920. I know we can get the SP6920 easily now through Colt’s Manufacturing but will we be able to get the SP6921 as we’ve been able to obtain the LE6921 through distributor overflow?

I’ve researched this thoroughly online and haven’t found alot of information on this but the little I did find seemed to suggest that Colt Defense has changed their policies and now it will be next to impossible for a civilian to aquire this rifle if not entirely impossible.

I’m a newbie in the Colt world and I know there’s alot of insiders on these boards that definately have an answer for this. I’m sure I’m not the only one wondering about this, either.

My first suggestion is to contact Grant at G&R and see what he says…will save you a lot of time looking around and if it is available he’ll have a good price.

He wrote me back, his simple reply when asked if it will be available was: ‘It should be.’ He didn’t address the issue of Colt Defense supposedly blocking distributors from selling to the rest of us whatever LEOs didn’t need.

If one looks at the pictures of the SP6921 on Colt’s website it looks like the roll marks are all the same as the LE6921’s. I seriously doubt that LEOs will carry rifles from Colt that say ‘Sporter’ on them so it begs the question, why change the designation at all on the 6921?

My concern is mostly whether or not we NFA enthusiasts will be able to continue buying SBRs from Colt Defense once the LE6921s and LE6933s are all dried up.
