80’s Colt SP1 up for sale locally for a good price. Will find out more details tomorrow.
The screw pivot pin has always kind of driven me nuts. Does anybody make a “large hole” pivot pin that just pushes in and out like the regular pivot pin?
Also what is the standard BCG in these rifles, M16 or AR15?
I handled the rifle and just wasn’t in love with it. Am I crazy? Condition was very good. Appears to be under 500 rounds (he claims 350). He had it appraised at $1700. Am I crazy to not want it at $1k? I offered $800 and he is going to think on it. Truth is I’m not sure if I even want it at $800. What is wrong with me?
That is what it comes down to, you’re right. I guess I’m just a little surprised. I held one (in much worse shape) this winter in a LGS and I remember being a lot more enamored with it. Pretty sure they were asking $1500 for it though so I knew I wouldn’t be leaving the store with it.
Last SP1 I personally handled that I saw sell was in the $1200 range, and that as prior to SH. Saw some marking SP1s at $7k following the thing though I don’t know if they were selling, but wouldn’t surprise me. Personally, most command the price because it is a Colt, and it is what it is, which is to say the original AR15 for the civy market. If you are a collector then it may have value, if you use your rifles, then I doubt it will be something that will get you hard, as it were. To each their own. I know I have seen several guys trying to sell Pre ban or even ban era Colts for $1400+ locally and there have been no takers as of recently. Some even have been willing to deal and still the price just does nothing for me. But a handful of years ago at $1400 those rifles would have moved like hot shit through a goose.
