I was at the range yesterday and a guy there had a 30-some year old all original Colt SP1 CAR labled “.223” on the lower. The barrel didn’t have the caliber marked on it. I thought all the old Colts were 5.56 so I thought I’d ask the experts if this rifle is really 5.56 even though the lower says .223?
All Colt products have a 5.56 chamber no matter what the lower is marked.
Most civilian Colts are marked .223 on the lower.
