Colt serial number / model question

Does anyone know of a place where I can look up the serial number of my rifle. I ask because I’d like to determine the model that I picked up at the Tampa gun show this weekend. On the right it has the 'colt law enforcement carbine" stamped on it. The S/N begins ‘LE0…’ On the left it has ‘Restricted Military/Government/Law Enforcement/Export Use Only.’ stamped. The barrel and bolt carrier have a ‘C’ stamped in them. But curiously the gas key is not staked. Like I said, Im just curious as to the exact model I have.

“Wise man say it is always good to know what one is buying before they buy it!”

Your lower is from a 6920.

What is the configuration of the upper?

THanks. Yop I did confirm through another source that its a 6920. As for the upper, it came with the detachable carrying handel. The barrel is stamped 5.56mm 1:7 with a ‘C’. The bolt also has a ‘C’ stamped on it, but the gas key isnt staked. Here is a pic if that helps:

I added the EoTech and the BUIS

Is your BUIS backwards?

Not that Im aware of. It folds to the rear with no problems. It it were reversed I couldnt collapse it (the EoTech would be in the way)

The grip on your gun is not Colt. I think you gun has been tampered with and this is the explanation for the unstaked key.

Thanks. That’s what Im beginning to suspect as well. Still I dont regret this.

Ok it was hard to tell from the pic and it looked like it folded forward. My bad.

Hey no problem. I am starting to wonder about taht BCG. Its stamped with a C, but the gas key isnt staked. Also the extractor spring insert is blue, not black. I have to wonder…is this related to when the weapon was produced (2003) or how much it has been played with?

What are the markings on the bolt?

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. I just took some photos and hopefully these will help:

I carefully compared the grip on that Colt in the picture to my 6920 , both grips look identical in every respect . I know the one on my weapon wasn’t changed , I was the person who first opened the box when It came from the manufacturer.

agreed. Thats the standard grip on the M16A2 / M4. BTW, the markings, am I correct?

The carrier key on my Colt was also not staked and I got it factory new.

Colt grips have a different sheen and are contoured differently at the top of them.

That grip is identical to my Colt. They probably just forgot to stake the carrier. Its not hard to do if you have a punch and a padded vice otherwise I think GotM4 or Grant can do it for you.

Could be the lighting or flash…aren’t colt PGs marked with a C on the inside?..look for that

No, they can have a number of markings in them.

The OP needs to post a closer picture of the grip.

I’ll get one up later today.
