COLT Rifle Target Match, What to pick?

Hello,

I am looking for my 1st AR. and i like how it looks on COLT Target Match Rifle. (A2 Stock, Carry Handle, 20" barrel).

I am not a hunter, just plan to use it for target shooting.

So, From my research, they have Model number /

MT6601

MT6601C

MT6700

MT6700C

What is the major different between 6601 and 6700.

Also, i believe “C” is stand for (Compensator). What does that mean?

difference between the 6601 and 6700 are the barrel twist (1/7 vs 1/9) and upper receiver (fixed carryhandle vs detachable carryhandle)

C model have a compensator pinned to the muzzle

I don’t know Colt is still putting those half circle carrier abominations in the Match Target, but mine came with one. Hopefully they are using the M16 carrier now. May want to check for that before ordering. Also, mine came with the plastic buffer. Luckily it only had the web block, so I could retrofit the carrier.

What does compensator do? should i get one with or without.

Also having plastic buffer is bad thing?

And 1/7 rate is more popular than 1/9 rate i guess.

I would get one with it will help with getting back on target after your shots.It helps with the Barrel rise and helps with not having a Big fireball come out of the Non comp barrel.
I would Upgrade the Buffer ,But if you are just target shooting try it out and see how it works for you.Buy another Buffer and keep it as a back up ,just in case .
1/7 will handle all of the Heavier Loads from 62 grain to 75 grain .

If you Just plan on shooting 55 grain and below a 1/9 would be Fine.I have read a few times on here where some of the lighter Loads Like 45 grain will break up before hitting the target when shot with a 1/7 ,too fast of a twist for those.

I’m not saying its necessarily bad, I just prefer the real deal.
