It would seem that the anti-business laws including massive tax increases by the state of Connecticut is taking its toll on companies such as Colt Firearms. The historic gun maker has been based in Connecticut since its inception back in the 1830’s. Now the union that has tormented Colt for decades is worried about the jobs of its members. Sorry guys, it’s too late now. You’ve made your bed, it’s now time to lay in it.
Colt suffered one of the longest labor disputes in the history of US unions back in the 1980’s, it lasted 5 years. The strike crippled Colt and caused them to endure several years of poor quality that tarnished the name of a company previously known for outstanding quality and craftsmanship. The unions and the anti-business atmosphere of the increasingly left leaning state of Connecticut have finally pushed Colt to make a move.
I can’t say I blame them. That’s the beauty of our nation, if one state doesn’t want your business and the jobs that it brings, there are 49 others (or 57 if you’re President Obama) that would like a shot at earning that business.
While I hate to see Colt move from its historic home, I support and applaud them for actions.
Colt also announced a partnership with Magpul. Nice to see Colt evolving.
