Colt M5 SCW (subcompact weapon with Maxim Defense stock)

I would like to have this:

Is getting one as simple as buying a 10.3" M5 SBR from Arms Unlimited and then installing a Maxim Defense SCW stock assembly? Or, is there another element that I’m missing?

Mlok? No FSB? Ambi nonsense? :frowning:

The baby Jesus cries at such things!

It makes me run to my safe place.

That stock looks nice until you actually use it. Unless you fire it fullly extended it’s difficult to get your hand on the grip without the stock interfering. Hard to explain but MP5s have a similar grip.

While I appreciate that this might not be everyone’s choice because it’s not too practical, I just want it for my collection and don’t want to leave out a critical element that I need to configure it correctly.

Just teasin man, have fun with your guns.

Just go to its page, pics, lengthy description and clone it. I’ve already seen different “official” versions online. Official meaning no mention of any changes performed once leaving Colt. Have fun.

We won’t have Baby Jesus OR MarkM upset around the Christmas Holidays!!!

BCM 11.5 Quad rail with Maxim Defense stock.

Exactly what I was thinking. I have not used this Maxim stock, maybe it’s fine. But I have a lot of trigger time on MP5’s and I hate their collapsible stock.

I placed an order for the 10.3" M5 last night. I’ll shoot it with the regular stock and then with the Maxim stock and will definitely let you know what I think.

You wouldn’t like this most likely either. The stock should really be two position, stored closed, and the other being all the way extended. There is no way to escape the rods which are needed on each side.

The stock is very usable, but it needs to be looked at in totality.

Why not just go with the Colt SCW?

I’m a little late to the discussion, but I shoot MP5A3s with the stock collapsed all the time. It’s not really in the way. Can’t say for sure the Colt M5 would be the same or different, don’t own one - never shot one.

The cheek weld is absolute crap and the only thing worse are AK underfolders and Uzis. But other than shitty cheek welds and a lot of added weight, the A3 stock isn’t really in the way when shooting from the closed position.

Yup, but with this the stock “rods” are right next to, and almost against, the selector. Its still workable, but it certainly takes a bit more emphasis to use.

Fair question, and the answer for me is simple. I already have the stock mounted to a SBR lower, and I already own multiple BCM, Noveske, and Centurion Arms URGs that work exceedingly well. Buying a new gun just for pictures is certainly something I’ve been known to do, but in this case I don’t think the juice is worth the squeeze.

I also own this lower which is also SBR’d… which fits that niche as well.

I don’t believe that’s a real Colt offering. It appears that Arms Unlimited simply added the old SCW stock to a new 10.3" M5 SBR.

Why does this matter? The maxim isn’t available either. People just want to add it. Same with the SCW. Both are awesome and have to be added. I added the SCW to a 6945. The maxim defense is another cool one. There is nothing wrong with adding them to an M5. Offered or not

It matters if you’re wanting to replicate a genuine Colt offering which is what I’m wanting to do. The Maxim Defense SCW is available directly from Maxim Defense. The guy there that I spoke with said that it’s not exactly what they sold Colt, but is extremely close. I have the legacy SCW stock that AA is selling for my 6945, though I have not installed it yet. There’s nothing wrong with configuring your rifle the way you want to. However, AA should be upfront and clear that the M5 & legacy SCW stock configuration that they’re selling is something they put together and isn’t a Colt offering.

Ahhhh, I didn’t realize that was the issue being discussed. Yeah, I can see that being a little tight.
