Not sure if you have seen, but the 2018 vintage of Colt 14.5” M4A1 riles are available to civilians with the “Property of US Gov’t” stamped on the left side.

First time for M4, but I suppose similar to the XM177. Was this the first time Colt released commercially the US Gov’t mark?
Shouldn’t this be in the EE? Clicking on your threads only to see that they are just advertisements with links to your store is getting old.

Unnnnnnnnnnnnpossible, board rules require affiliations to be listed in the signature block. Which is why my sig block lists me as a dirty whore who writes and shoots pictures along with the instructor, armorer, LE, MIL and other stuff. Otherwise, my sig block would just say “Stick the gun slut”, or something catchy.
Just like to point out that I have every single issue of Recoil magazine in pristine condition. I like your photos, you do a great job.
Thank you, I know I should write more articles, and stick stuff in a few more magazines, but it seems like time is always at a minimum. I want to start doing some one and two page articles about newer items that guys who aren’t on the forums all the time might not see. I also think that some of the reviews in magazines need to get back to reality. Not every blade needs to be a $500 knife. I recently completed a large amount of T&E comparing a Cold Steel O1 blade (large knife), against a clone of the same blade. Youtubers have given the clone stellar reviews, and at the end of everything there were some great points we came up with.
I think people would love to see an article comparing a $125 large knife from a company knife snobs look down on, but that guys can actually afford, versus a cheaper clone that is $30 and looks exactly the same and that get awesome reviews. I think real readers would love to see how my nephews used the knives, what they thought, the forts and shelters they built, and how we got “artificially isolated” (AI) in the mountains. Never “lost”, but we did have to search for high ground/ cell service to make a call letting people know not to expect us that night and we were fine. I prefer stories to clinical reviews that dance around issues and stay PC.
However, when I mentioned it to an editor, I never even got an email back on that one, and this is from a magazine that says they will take whatever I will write for them!!! Maybe knives, UTV/ RZRs, nephew training or survival stuff is out and only gun stuff is cool, but I’m willing to bet people are interested in a bit more.
I don’t think that is a fair assessment. My posts are as a participant. But that is your opinion.
God I wish they let you write stuff like that, I love Recoil, and your pic and write ups are awesome, but yeah their knife writeups usually include too many expensive options, and some of us spend too muck on guns to buy expensive Knives;)

Facts: Colt has released, last week, a limited run of M4 SOCOM rifles.
Like the limited 2017 run, this release has all the same bells and whistles: 14.5” pinned SOCOM barrel with FSB; KAC M4 RAS, Matech BUIS, Ambi Safety, marked M4A1. Unlike the 2017 vintage, the 2018 release has full “US Gov’t Property” rollmark on the left side of the lower.
I offer this as news of interest, and not a commercial. I am sure within a week, other Colt dealers will have this same rifles. I post here First as a contributor, enthusiast and also to share and learn.
By disclosure - perhaps I should add in the signature line (which I just did) - I am a part owner in Charlie’s Custom Clones, which is a firearms dealer and specializes in military correct rifles, scopes and accessories.

IMHO, C4 is a great group, and comprised of very serious and fair-minded members. I very much enjoy the interaction and give and take. I am a teacher and a student of rifles and optics, and have some great expertise in barrels and optics, and am a learner is many ways. I try to be open minded and listen and contribute. I am a commercial supporter of C4 and also of another great online forum with the same name “handle,” which focuses on long-range weapons. I have no respect for another forum online which attracts a number of nah-sayers, and of which I am not a member. And, yes, I make a living at doing what I love. This is America. I support Making America Great Again, and have a family and to support like many of you, and raise my kids and grandkids to stand for the National Anthem and say thank you to our service members, veterans and first responders.

Why would anyone want a “US Govt Property” marked weapon of any kind? I could see a person with one of those having some 'splaining to do to an uninformed LEO at a traffic stop.
Plenty out there like that and no different than the Colt - restricted Gov/LEO only - stamp

Many folks are interested in building clone rifle which are an accurate as possible recreation of the ones they carried while in the service, or for other reasons - collectors, LARPers, historians, etc.
Actually quite a market for them.
You would be surprised how many people are “back dating” there ar15’s. I just built (2) identical colt standard M4 patrol rifles using the new M4 socom profile uppers, comp M2’s, KAC quad rails, surefire 962’s and PEQ-2’s. I don’t know why but the allure of the afghan/Iraq war M4 setups are meaningful to me.
I know what you mean. I think comparing $2,700.00 KAC, LWRC, Noveske to custom home built $1,500.00 BCM, Spikes, Aero builds would be better because it has a real world application. Or explain the pros and cons of a duty rifle vs a contractor grade rifle.

why on earth is this a limited release? it should just be a normal production sku.
Or better yet, why dont they just offer a M4A1 OEM?
Exclusivity = higher price. Mass production = lower price. If customers are willing to pay more, why charge less?
