I recently purchased this rifle and I am new to the platform.
Most of my shooting to from a bench position, I have a Harris Bi-Pod that attaches to my sling studs for all my other long arms. I rotate it from ea different platform when in use.
My question here is I have an AFG installed on my bottom rail already so I can not easily attach the Bi-Pod when I want. So what I am looking for is a Bayonet lug mount that has the swivel stud attached. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
What will you be using the gun for? Many here will press hard on the reasons why you’re looking to mount both a grip and bipod. For me, bipods get in the way unless the gun is a dedicated precision setup. I can do just as well off the ground, a pack, etc.
ETA: missed the bench shooting part of your post I have no idea where you’d find something like that - I’ve only seen rail-mounted bipod adapters.
Not completely disagreeing with you there, But I do like the AFG. And unless Zombies come or we go to war I am not using this rifle as a defense weapon currently. So with that said I am trying to find a way to be able to use both.
I was going to recommend this as well. I swear I saw one of these for sale on either this forum or TOS in the last few days as well, so might check there also.
In that case, look for one of the Lug to Rail adapter blocks. Google and you should find some.
IMO something like the Magpul RVG or TangoDown stubby work really well for various shooting positions, and eliminate the need to hang a bunch of doo-doo on the carbine.
If the accessory is made properly and clamps on, I dont see why it would shift and make your POI suffer.
I try to make the most out of what I already have and increase compatibility between my collection.
“txbonds” -
The Bayonet to rail attachment would work, but they I would have to buy another adapter to go from the Pic rail to swivel stud so that I could attach the Harris Bi-Pod. I was hoping for a more direct approach Bayonet lug right to Swivel stud.
The 6940 is the monolith upper correct?
The barrel is free floated correct?
The bipod belongs on the rail.
Placing a bipod on the barrel will change the POI.
Excuse my ignorance, But I don’t agree. If that’s the case no matter what you were doing your POI would suffer because the barrel is floating. I am not using the bipod to aim my weapon just support it.
I think you are missing what free float handguard means. It means the handguard is “floating” over the barrel, not making contact with it at any point besides at the barrel nut…
You need to understand just what it is you are talking about.
You can disagree all you want, you are wrong.
By placing a bipod on a free floated barrel and then supporting the rifle on the bipod, you are placing pressure on the free floated barrel.
No one said a thing about aiming.
