“Had a conversation with Travis Haley about AR manufacturing. He told me that all Colt rifles made for commercial sale were built from military contract out of spec parts. The military specs are tight though, so they are still fine weapons. Still gave me a lower reguard for them. He also said that BCM stuff is all in spec. He does get a lot of rifles from them though. Don’t think he would use them if they are not top quality.”
Does anybody on this forum actually buy this nonsense?
I can’t see why Colt would knowingly want to put out of spec parts in their rifles. Commercial sale or not, they still hold a high reputation in the AR/M4 community and don’t see why they would steer away from that.
I respect Mr Haley and his amazing capabilities but that sounds like a good deal of bs. He is well endorsed by BCM whom makes spectacular rifles, but I have a hard time buying into Colt knowingly putting out of spec everything to the civie market. Just my .2 c Also, where did this quote come from? Is it in print somewhere?
Def not in print…The quote came from another board. I just cut and pasted it. Apparently it was said during a conversation this forum member was having the Mr. Haley.
Thanks for the clarification Gen4Glock22. In that case I put absolutely NO credence into this alleged quote attributed to Mr Haley. Sounds very dubious to say the least.
Yeah my sister’s boyfriend’s best friend knows a guy who is old shooting buddies with Travis Haley and he said Colt rifles are out of spec. :sarcastic:
If Colt is now producing inferior product there are any number of reputable individuals here in this forum, starting with it’s founder, who would almost certainly be the first to have noted the issue for the rest of us. Until it happens I’d suggest everyone refrain from passing judgement at this time.
The proof lies in the fact that people still own and shoot Colts. If they were out of spec they would have a mountain of complaints about them like (fill in the blank) brand.
