Colt finish

Hello

New guy here. Been reading for awhile, really like the site.
I’ve been getting back into Ar’s lately, got a new BCM lightweight midlength upper. It seems great but I haven’t done a lot with it yet.

Please enlighten me. Why is the Colt finish look so much better than all the rest. At least in the past, I haven’t seen many new colts lately, they had this awesome grey finish. My new BCM is black and that’s fine I didn’t buy it to look at. But I do prefer the Colt finish.

I searched for some talk about this but apparently no one cares or I need to work on my search skills.

Later

Colt hasn’t had a grey anodized finish for years, unfortunately. I also like the old school Colt grey, but that’s what I grew up with.

Colt has been using a black anodizing for years and years now.

I would suspect you haven’t handled AR’s for a while. Recent production Colts will have a very similar finish to a BCM.

Just a heads up, not too many folks value the looks, or “finish” of AR’s on this forum. Function over fashion here, bro. Welcome to the site.

I’m a function over finish guy but back when I had my last Colt it was grey and “cheap” Bushmasters and Olympics were black. I always thought it must have been a cheaper lower quality finish. So it was just different anodizing nothing special. OK

Thanks for the replies.
