So I am browsing a new 20" rifle. Looking thru online places and found 2 different UPC’s for a 20". Does anyone know the difference between these? for simplicity, I used the same website for a side by side comparison.
I don’t know if this is your answer but it may be in the markings. They’ve made one that’s marked “AR-15A4” and one that is just marked “Carbine.” Same basic rifle.
Yes. That answers my question. Thank you. I must have been to focused on specs to notice that. Roll marks do not matter to me. So i will go the cheaper option.
I googled the Manufacturer Par Number on the more expensive one and might have found the difference.
The more expensive model is MPN CR6700A4 while the cheaper one is MPN AR15A4.
It appears that the cheaper AR15A4 is an older stock Colt while the new CR6700A4 is a newer model made under CZ ownership. This video popped up showing the differences between the two. I have not watched it.
he actually is blind. Misha is well known in the AK world and has been blind since birth or shortly thereafter. he owns a gun shop in Arkansas and is mostly known for being a sponge of historical knowledge about the AK
he’s done a lot of collaborations with James Reeves of TFBTV and Chris Bartocci.
I’ve heard that in the last year Colt has rebrought back the AR-15A4 line and discontinued the CR 6700 line. So this very well could be the newer reintroduced AR-15A4 line rather than pre-CZ Colt. I have one on the way so we’ll see
Bought two AR15A4s this year, both are recent/2023 production. One from Brownells the other from Buds. The Brownells rifle did not have the Colt notched hammer, the Buds gun did. Bought two 6920s as well from same sources–both were identical. The A2 stocks were not as good as the old school A2 stocks. The finish is more B5ish. I liken the difference between what an LMT sopmod feels like vs the B5. They are also more black instead of the grayish color. Hand guards the same way, doesn’t feel the same as as an 1980s to early 2000s A2. Pistol grip was same same. I will see if I can find my old set of A2 handguards and do a side by side to the newer ones.
Worth noting they all shoot great! One of the 6920s is particularly accurate, would put it in 6721 territory and that is with a Roscoe barrel. I was originally bummed about the Roscoe but if they hold up, I can’t really complain. No failures or issues in several hundred rounds thus far.
I dropped a Centurion 12" C4 rail on the Brownells A4, shaved the FSP, Brownells 1-8x MPO/LPVO–its definitely a 1MOA gun if I’m doing my part and using good ammo. Going to install Centurion AST trigger before next range trip.
On a tangent, I bought a Rock River Arms this year for the first time, mid length A4. I was prepared to be underwhelmed but damn thing actually runs and shoots great! The trigger is actually pretty good! I dropped an SIR rail on that one, using Primary Arms 6x GLx magnifier and MD25G2 ACSS. BCG was staked properly, extension was unfortunately commercial. Was going to swap for Mil but damn thing is loctited/adhesed on there so strong I just bought a VLTOR Imod commercial and said F-it. Irons were dead on after install. MD25 only needed elevation correction–and that’s sitting on the piggy back rail. I changed out for Sprinco Blue spring left carbine weight buffer.
I have astigmatism, I stopped running flip to side Aimpoint and Eotech setups because of it. The new Primary Arms options are clear and defined, even with magnifier! Previously, magnifiers turned reticles/dots into pure crap for me.
The Colt info on side of box might help lock it down to the time period in terms of if its the “new” AR15A4 or the one that was before the 6700 version.
