Hi I have been lurking here for a while and just recently picked up a colt 6920.
The area right under the ejection port / dust cover is not finished the same as the rest of the rifle it is also a little ruff to the touch as compared to the rest of the rifle. I am assuming this is a blemish. I am sure it is fine and will not affect the gun in any way but would just like a few other opinions. The upper to lower fit is also a little sloppy but not as sloppy as my BCM middy mated to a LMT lower.
I have a few hundred rounds through it with out any problems it runs great just a little annoyed about the finish
I just got a 6920 last week, it does not have this, its smooth and
the finish is the same as the upper/lower. I did notice that in certain
lighting the dustcover is a different shade of black.
Thanks everybody for the great info.
I tried doing some searches and looked for some other images of 6920’s but I did not find anything that looked like mine.
I bought the Colt to be my go to AR so I was not too concerned about the finish. I sort of expected a loose upper to lower fit (The other two I checked out at the shop where also loose ) But the finish had me had me wondering a little.
Are you really upset that the dust cover isn’t the same color as the upper receiver? I can’t imagine what you would do if the lower didn’t match the upper perfectly.

Hey, the bottom line is: “It’s still a 6920.” That blemish won’t hurt a thing, other than in a beauty contest. You still have one of the best “out of the box” ARs on the market today.
