Colt 20" AR15A4 coming?

Anyone gotten the skinny on these? A guy took this picture at SHOT…

A plain 'ol 20" A4 from Colt.

I’ve been wanting this for a long time, can’t wait to see one in stock somewhere.

I do like the plain looking AR15. but didn’t COLT already have those models? something new?

I like it. Any chance they’ll sell just the complete upper half. If not, I’ll have to wait until we move out of New Yorkistan to buy one.

NYH1.

Yep, Colt will be offering it.

HBAR or Government profile under the handguards?

Gov profile = Good

HBAR = Bad

What’s wrong with the HBAR?

Weighs a ton.

If I am going to be holding that much weight, I am going to shoot a .308. (or just use a 6724)

I had a HBAR and it was just as heavy and less well balanced than a M1a.

I would really love a M16A4 rifle though (Government Profile bbl).

SAW sent around a poll at one time asking if customers would support Colt doing a civilian version of it. Hopefully this is Colt finally responding to that poll…

May have info: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoThHQIGkqY

That is in Nov. Obviously Colt is facing more uncertainty so hard to say what comes about

heavy

beat me to it.

I like the HBAR; it makes a fine bench shooter… It’s just a range rifle for me, so the weight is not an issue. If I were going to carry an AR I would carry my carbine anyhow… JMO… Ron

Old school. Don’t really see the attraction, but what do I know?

Isnt it Molon that uses a factory Colt 20" HBAR to do all of his testing?

I had a Colt HBar 20" rifle. It balanced fine and wasn’t all that heavy. I liked it much better than the A1. But I do think an A4 with a pencil or medium weight barrel would be great

Govt profile barrel. It has M4 feedramps for one reason or another. There was a thread regarding this vid from Gallery of Guns featuring the new Colts for 2013.

The AR15A4 is @ 1:35.

SWEET!

Probably has the M4 ramps because they are just using “standard” M4 components and it simplifies production.

I hadn’t been planning on getting any new rifles this year, plans have changed.

I really need something to mount my old M9 bayonet on.

Colt is really going to focus on about 5 models over the next 4 months so I would be surprised if we see any before that.

It is nice to see Colt produce an M16A4 clone. Back in the Summer of 2012, I was in talks with Colt about a G&R exclusive AR. During the convo, they told me about this 20" AR with an HBAR, and some after market stock (that was a dog). I told that was a mistake and that people would be much more interested in an A4 clone. I also pushed hard to get them to go with the Govt profile VS the HBAR. It looks like they took my advice.

G&R Tactical for the win!

C4

Agree there…wish I hadn’t sold mine…however, I must say that when I was 25, the HBar didn’t feel heavy at all…now at age 45…seems a lighter rifle is the way to go for a all around gun.

I am really excited about this offering from Colt. Yeah, it is a nostalgic thing for me since I carried a M-16 A2 in the Corps and this is as close to a factory Colt A2 as I’m going to get. I had an A4 built out of a Bushmaster upper with a Stag lower that was a reliable and accurate rifle with a scope. I sold it right before the current madness hit to get a Sig 716. I did this with the ideal that Colt was releasing these A4s so I hope they make it to market.

I heard that All of COLT’s HBARs are 1/9 somewhere. Not sure if that’s true…

But thinking back, I’ve never seen a heavy barrel Colt in 1/7.

Even the HBAR variant of the 6933 is 1/9.

I could never get used to the Gov profile 20" Too light… felt like a toy gun… and as stated all over the place… the profile makes NO SENSE.
