Cold weather gloves.....

Anyone got a good recomendation for cold weather gloves??

Why? It doesn’t get cold in Florida, does it?

Current temp is 45 with a wind chill of 40, rainy, and temp dropping. Frigid? Nah, but NE FL aint Orlando.
That said… I didnt say I needed them for here now did I??

How cold are we talking about, and for what use?

General outdoor use, no lower than the upper teens, probably 20’s most of the time as a low.

Take a look at the form fitting fleece p.s. 150 gloves from outdoor research. a quality product.

I bought a pair of THESE from REI for a couple cold weather trips recently.

I used them in temp down to about 29* F and they did a pretty good job of balencing warmth with dexterity.

They are very comfy, fit well, and I could could access and fire my Glock just fine. I don’t think they would last for a long time of hard use though.

The ones mudbug listed aren’t bad. I’ve torn up a few pairs and had the palm stuff start falling off.

Patagonia makes a pair of windproof leather palmed gloves, their part number is 34551. They are a bit tougher but about 60$. And you can always add a pair of light polypro liners if it is a little cool. I wear these quite a bit down here in the Antarctic.

Thanks. Taking a look at the suggestions now.

UVvis, how are those Patagonias in regards to getting wet?

Well, pretty much all synthetics dry pretty fast, and you can take them off and ring them out. The leather part stays wet a little longer if you haven’t put any waterproofing conditioners on recently.

They aren’t a waterproof glove exactly, but for a light drizzle, or playing in wet snow, they are pretty good. If you are planning on playing in the water, get neoprene gloves. For a general light duty, cooler weather glove that breathes a bit, I really like them.

My Oakleys seem to work OK down to around 20 degrees F…but I am pretty warmblooded

But one morning at -3 I found them to be lacking…When I decided enough was enough I put on my REI all-season gloves and my hands recovered almost immediately

Perhaps we can get the magpul or TD guys to make a heated battelgrip

Or maybe Oakley could put some heater wires in their gloves and the power supply could be in the grip???

Anyone have any experience with these OR gloves?

hawkeye;

as i mentioned above, i think the p.s. 150 gloves would work for taking classes and being able to manipulate your weapon system.

i have tried on the p.s. 150 gloves and they are form fitting and comfortable. i did not know that they now have them with sweat wicking x static now and that will probably be even warmer, as your hands will stay drier with the x static. drier = warmer.

i do have a similar model of o.r. glove with lycra and thin leather and they are comfortable, form fitting and the lycra is good at keeping my hands dry. i have worn them while hunting in alaska in very cold conditions and felt that they were worth the money. most of their gloves seem to be $45-55. not cheap, but well made gloves with good technology behind them.

Thanks. All I could find before were the PL 150’s and I wasnt sure if those were the same or not. I just noticed that the pair I referenced above are PS’s.

Ok, now where to buy them from…

If you can find them, Kemper gloves are the HEAT for cold weather. I have a pair that are just great. But they seem to be drying up. I am thinking Kemper has stopped making gloves?

Cabela’s

Polypro fleece with good grips…

Goretex over mittens for back up…Goretex gauntlette Pinnacle gloves are really warm

But take a couple of pairs…cause some gloves are going to be too hot and some too
cold…(kinda like Goldilox)…

I also like those Sealskinz waterproof gloves…neoprene and lycra
