Grant and I finished season 3 last night. I was clapping, super giddy, and downing my martini in celebration at the end.
He looked at me like I was crazy.
So…typical night at the G&R house. LOL
Great series. Glad there have been flashbacks to the first movie. “Put ‘em in a body bag!” Yeah!
This is for you…_

Season Five is up. Nice finish for the series. Season 4 felt like it got a little lost. They gave the show a little bit of it’s “toxic masculinity” back that made the first season work so well.
We went from Johnny Lawrence having been a bit downtrodden and building a business and being antagonized by a wealthy, yet petty Larusso but still having success and rebuilding his life……
To a live action anime where every last person in each movie gets a callback. And it devolved into old people actively caring about karate crap that happened almost 40 years ago.
And not even in a fun Cannon films sort of way.
If I were a 70 something Billionaire Nam Vet, my utter last concern is over a mall karate tournament in the 80s.
I will admit that is one aspect of all of this that I never understood. Why would a rich guy care? They did add a reason finally, and I will not spoil it. Dojo Wars Hollywood style.
It’s called character motivation.
Nice to see ya man, where ya been.
I watched an episode… and I’m out. Just too cheesy for me.
Did you grow up on the films in the 80s?
Yep… 1987 H.S. graduate.
Well I guess CK ain’t for everyone. Personally I don’t find it any more chessy than the original films and I kind of love how they vindicated Johnny in Season One. Almost did a Roshomon with historical events from the perspective of Johnny which even made Daniel the bad guy for a time.
The films were tolerable, and I really did enjoy them, because they were only 2 hours long. The series is just too damn long. I watched the first two seasons, but that was all I could handle.
