Grant, CMT = STAG LPK, right ?
CMT is the parent company of Stag. They do make a quality LPK for a good price. Not quite as cheap as DPMS, but not as pricey as RRA and certainly not as pricey as Armalite. There arent a lot of bad reviews on CMT or RRA so people tend to look at them as a good option.
I have used CMT exclusively in my builds. No issues with 5 builds.
I have a buddy who has used DPMS on 10+ builds and not had an issue either. But Ive also heard quite a few bad stories on DPMS. However, like anything, you need to take market share into consideration. DPMS is the cheapest (or at least one of them), and has a higher percentage of the market. Therefore you are more likely to hear a problem with a DPMS than with an Armalite which probably has a fraction of the market share that DPMS has.
As I said, I like CMT. I think that it is a good choice that isnt too much more money than DPMS, but gives me a bit more piece of mind. You may also look at Daniel Defense. They are about the same price as CMT and they include a MagPul MOE trigger guard.

Who machines DD LPK? I heard that DD dont make their on LPKS.

I heard that they make all their own major components and they have someone supply the springs. But Ive also heard that they make all the components, so who knows.
So, lets assume that they make some parts and contract the other parts out. The question is this, do you think that DD would risk their reputation by ordering sub quality parts? I dont think that they would.
I havent seen a whole lot of DD LPK reviews, but I would be very surprised to hear that they are not of very good quality.
As for me, Ill probably stick with CMT as that is what has served me well. I can get CMT for $62 and a MagPul MOE guard for $8. I can get a DD for $70, so the price is the same. Id just assume stick with CMT until they give me a reason not to. However, if they ever do give me that reason, and DD hasnt been proven to be junk, Ill go to DD.
CMT/Stag with Colt bolt catch, mag release, and safety is what I use.
Ive had a couple issues with those parts in CMT kits. CMT is fine for the pins, springs, detents, etc.
I believe DD said they make everything but some small parts like springs and roll pins. Makes sense since that is a lot of machinery ($$$) to make what are dime parts. Better to just buy them by the bucketful.
I have not purchased alot of LPK’s in the past few years,but I can say that of the one’s I have been completely satisfied with so far have been from G&R Tactical and Daniel Defense.A few other brands I purchased were returned for one reason or the other,but mostly quality issues.
That said,I prefer the Armalite flat sided bolt stops as I think they are a bit more robust with the added material in place.
