New here, first time custom build (not my first time with the weapons platform).
I Have a 16" CMMG M4 complete upper ordered. I hear they are of decent quality and specs. The main question is, will it ever ship? Will this demand bubble ever pop for some of these manufacturers? What has been your experience with CMMG orders lately? I went for CMMG because their uppers are made by LAR and I happen to have an LAR lower I’m putting together. I also like the fact that they chrome line as a standard option as well as having F marked front sight bases.

I ordered an M4 Socom Upper from CMMG at the end of January. I still haven’t heard a word from them. I had heard that it would be a wait of approximately 6 months.

I keep checking my Credit card every day to see if CCMG took my money yet. Sadly, they haven’t.
I’ll let you know when mine comes in. That may give you an idea of how much longer you have to wait.
I am no expert. But, from what I have heard, CMMG builds a good product.
Thanks guys, I figured it would be about a 6 month or more wait. Luckily I’m in no hurry (not that it would matter). The only manufacturer that could make one faster right now is ASA and they just didn’t seem to have the reputation that made me comfortable. That may change in the future, but it’s not there yet for me to compromise on possible quality issues yet. Good info on the cheap BCM bolt upgrade kit. What does that consist of exactly? I went with the standard bolt option on mine.
if you look at the Chart… you can see their barrel is very well up to spec.

Just an update. Ordered my CMMG complete upper in mid May. Just got the credit card charge, which means my upper has gone into production. That means I should have another 4-5 weeks, maybe sooner. Hope this gives someone reference as to current queue times.
They make a nice product. I ordered a VLTOR upper with a 14.5 in barrel w/ attched vortex FH about a year and half ago. It has ran perfectly.
Glad to hear it. I’ve heard pretty much all positive reviews for their products. Most complaints are only about lead times and occasional order discrepancies. So far my experience has been good. I had to email a change of address and Linda at CMMG was right on top of it and responded quickly.
By May, did you mean this May???

Keep in mind that my upper may have included a different length barrel and parts configuration and they may just be completing jobs where they’ve got certain parts that have come in. However, an email to sales or a phone call wouldn’t hurt. Seems like I’ve seen instances in the past where certain people who ordered later got orders in quicker than others who had different setups. I almost wonder if my email I sent them weeks back to change my address somehow got it some attention, but I doubt it. Probably strictly parts availability related. Mine was not the SOCOM upper, just a regular run of the mill 16" standard setup.
Anyway, I wish you the best in your quest to get it done and shipped. I was really surprised when mine went into production so quickly and unexpectedly.
Back in April was able to find my 14.7" socom upper from area51tactical in stock, instead of ordering from CMMG directly. I don’t shoot a lot, but it has run flawlessly for the ~1400 rounds i’ve put through it. Only things added were BCM extractor upgrade and H1 buffer.
I also bought a BCM extractor upgrade, although I’ve heard recently that they have been putting the black insert into their BCG’s. I’ll be interested to see if I get a blue or black insert. If it’s a black one I may not mess with it and just keep the BCM upgrade parts for spares.
I ran a CMMG built upper for about 10k on a LMT lower before mating it with a CMMG lower I had laying around and giving the thing a complete makeover, still runs like a raped ape.
I ordered a 14.5 socom upper with egress upgrade, phanton supressor, std hand guards in march and got an email 2 weeks ago saying it will ship in mid august.

i think CMMG puts out nice lowers. for 100 bucks their very nicely done, and they have a cute roll mark.
