CMMG MK 308 Bargain Rifle?

Hey guys, just built my first AR-15 a few months ago and now I’m looking to also get an AR in .308 caliber to replace my FAL. There is a website offering (seemingly?) cheap CMMG rifles. I tried searching all over, and haven’t found much on this rifle. Has anyone heard anything about them?
From some research it seems CMMG is a solid AR-15 brand, but they are pretty new to the .308 platform, yet I’ve still heard good things about them. Would this be a good choice to start with, or what would you guys recommend? Thanks in advance, and here is the link

CMMG makes mediocre (at best) products, and I wouldn’t consider buying anything that comes out of their shop.

They used a Yankee Hill Machine rail on the rifle, which doesn’t make me feel any better about the quality of the weapon…

CMMG doesn’t even list this rifle on their website. They have 308 lowers but no uppers for them. And in the photo it is engraved as a prototype on the lower. I’d be VERY reluctant to buy something like this.

Okay, I didn’t know too much about their reputation. And the fact that it is a prototype makes me uneasy. What might some other options be for me? I’m looking to spend NO more than 1500, have a flat-top 18-22" barreled rifle with the ability to put a bipod and VFG on the front. I will use it for targets and hopefully deer/antelope.

I think cmmg is an okay choice for a not even close tdp rifle, but why risk it? The .308 game is expensive, save your money and build once. On the upside, I have heard good things about their customer service, their shop is located near me also. Other than that…

The colt sp901 that grant is getting in would be a great 308 option.
