Looking at a TR24. Tritium aside, how is the quality of the glass?
I can’t say as I’m not really very well versed in high end glass. I do know this much. I will handle and view any Accupoint or ACOG I am going to purchase. I love these scopes. Have one, will own more. But handling a dozen or more and I’m conviced, most have a very crisp illum recticle but some will look a bit off. Not quite laser crisp. So I have to view it before I buy it.

Clear, but it does fisheye a tiny bit around the edges (you get used to it).
Make sure you have the diopter set correctly…it seems to effect the image more on the TR24 than the other AccuPoints.

I own a NF, i own an SB and others I own 4 tr24’s there is a reason for that?
to me and guess what in side by side it seams as clear as crisp and as bright and works well in low light as well…
Hmmm… I finally have a TR24 in route and am supposed to receive it tomorrow. I’m not experienced in high end glass either. Is there anything I should specifically look for in my new toy? If I get one that’s a little “off” I’m probably never going to know it.
My corrected vision seems sensitive. Most Accupoints illum portions of recticle look
VERY sharp and precise to me. A few I look through and the illum portion is either not concentric or “smeared”. My theory is that they are very minor variations in something in the scope I don’t really comprehend. YMMV. I may be full of Sht.
I second Armakraut. A tiny bit of a fisheye effect but not noticable when shooting it. Extremely clear.
Finally got mine today. Glass is very crisp and clear. I’m surprised by the fisheye though. It’s more pronounced on this scope than on the inexpensive 1-3X Weaver I bought first. In fact, I couldn’t detect any fisheye with the Weaver.
It’s not a big deal, I just didn’t expect it. I don’t know much about scopes, so maybe it’s due to the larger glass/magnification. Perhaps someone can shed some light on this for me.
I sure hope this TR is a tough SOB so I can justify the expense over the Weaver. As far as bang for the buck, the little Weaver’s hard to beat.
I don’t like their current selection of reticles for the scope. The triangle is a good aimpoint replacement, would be even better if it had German #4 bars and that same triangle. Indoors you’d have to flip the lens cover down or it’s really difficult to pick up. Their German #4 has a dot way too small for my liking. I’ve already got a non-illuminated German #4 in true 1-4 power that cost quite a bit less.
By day two I didn’t even notice any fish-eye type distortion. Like I said, you get used to it, real quick.
