CIGNA vs. UHC?

Figured I’d tap the large membership population here for opinions…

My company recently changed available health plans and my options are to either go with UHC or CIGNA. Reading around online basically provides horror stories for both (as with any health care provider)… but I’m having difficulty making a decision between the two. The plans that are being offered are comparable in coverage and cost, so I’m just trying to figure out which of these two providers would be more reliable (or less of a pain in the butt).

For whatever it’s worth, I’m a young guy in good health (knock on wood). Who knows when that might change, but my point is only that I don’t have any pre-existing conditions. I’m just trying to look at this from a preventative care, emergency, or routine care perspective. My doc would accept either.

Thoughts?

No issues with Cigna here but then again no one under my plan has any chronic illnesses or diseases. Just routine care, and a couple ER visits over the past year.

I have had both in the past and have not had any bad experiences with either. The plan you are under has a lot more to do with your experience/satisfaction than the vendor. Also, if you work for a large company - the health care is probably self-funded (i.e. the vendor only manages the claims, payments, etc.)

Health Insurance payers and their plans are as personal of a choice as guns, ammo and accessories regarding what works for you. As long as the plan meets your particular needs, you’ll be fine with either. The two payers you mention are both in it for the money equally.
