Christmas

So I since my wife knows I love guns I told her that I wanted to buy myself a new one for Christmas. The Florida gun show will be in Fort Walton Beach this weekend so I am going there with the following wish list to pick from:
Beretta PX4 .40 cal or Glock 23
Saiga-12
S&W 357 rem revolver or Rossi 357 revolver (2 in barrels)
Ruger LCP .380
AK-47

Not sure which one I might buy, or perhaps I’ll get two if I pick some of the cheaper ones. Any suggestions from you guys? I really don’t know how much each go for, but I feel like a $500 - $800 gift for myself is about right.

Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas to me!

Personally for me, from your list, I’d go with the AK. Top of the banners list. Though it’s probably the most likely to see greedy mark-ups too.

Pass on the Beretta PX-4. Had one, had too many problems and CS sucked. Get the G23 or the AK.

What kind of problems did you have with the PX4? What does CS stand for?

I think CS stands for customer service.

personally I would get the AK…not only is it the most valued now, it is the one most likely to see its value increase if there is a new ban…

to add perhaps a point of curiousity…what about an XD-M in 9mm? I am a glock guy, but I must admit 19+1 of 9mm REALLY intrigues me…

I’m not really a fan of the XD. It just didn’t feel comfortable in my hands.

I was at the gun show last weekend here in B’ham .No S-12 around tons of Ak’s but marked way up.But on the list I would go Ak .as stated on the top of the ban list.I have own 13 ak’s in my time Poly tec,Arsenal ,vepr, etc. now down to just a saiga ak-103 with side folder and a S-12 .I always said once I get a Russian ak I am done buying AK’s.:stuck_out_tongue:

I’d go with the Saiga-12. Magazine fed shotguns are rare enough as it is, and they are something very likely to be restricted in the future.

Even if an AWB isn’t enacted by Congress, Obama can simply use an executive order to ban importation of any hi-capacity feeding device or assault-weapon-looking firearm. Think about it, no AK derivatives imported at all, and no US content exceptions to make them legal after the requisite modifications.

Bush 41 did this in '89, so there’s no reason Obama can’t do it. Of course, this would still leave us to buy anything made in the US, and would actually support jobs in the US firearms industry. Sounds like a “win-win” for Obama, doesn’t it?

What do you guys typically do when you buy yourself a gift for Christmas…do you wrap it stick it under the tree, so it is not to be touched until Christmas or is fair game to play with right away?

I shot my Christmas AK on Thanksgiving weekend

Since you said two, an AK and a revolver. Everyone should own a good revolver, and there’s no reason not to own an AK, as inexpensive as they are and their ammo is. I’m still hunting for that deal on a nice 4" or 6" Colt King Cobra or Python, myself.

Why wait? What if something happened between now and then that caused you to not be able to enjoy your gift? (Not trying to sound negative, just saying enjoy all you can when you can!)

My wife and I usually decide what we want from each other and either buy it together or on our own. This year I ordered my own gifts from Amazon (including Band of Brother on Blu-ray!). Then we let the other one wrap it up so we can open it on Christmas morning. When you have small kids, you need to go through all the motions.

I’ll never forget the time I opened a Sig 239 in front of my mom.

“What’s that!?”
It’s a 9mm handgun
“A handgun?”
Yes, mom
“Is it safe to have a handgun in the house with a child”
It’s not like I’m going to leave it loaded gun where he can get to it
(General look of disapproval)
Don’t you think I’m responsible enough to store it properly?
(General look of discomfort)

What can I say, she grew up in NYC and has lived in the Chicago area for most of the past 3 decades. She voted for Clinton, and probably for Obama too. She’s nice but naive. I sometimes wonder how someone who graduated 2nd in her class from Fordham University business school in NYC could have turned out so clueless sometimes…

I handled a PX4 a while back…loved it…only gun I’ve held that when you brought it up the sights were always lined up:)

I will be getting 20 round magazines for My Socom 16.

Well I went to the gun show today and purchased two pistols in lieu of either the Saiga 12 or Ak. I got the Glock 23 and the S&W 442. I think I got a decent deal. Both of them together cost me $835. I also bought 500 rds of 40S&W for $100.

The Saiga 12 was selling for $795 and the cheapest best AK I could find was $800-$850. I am going to keep searching for a deal on one of these still, but I now have two new toys to play with.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

GOOD DEAL  try gunbroker.com for a ak saw some on there at a good price the other night
