I saw link on Drudge that lead to an article that mentioned China’s report on America’s civil rights violations. Kind of like Jeffery Dahmer being a restraunt critic.

Three things really jumped out at me:
Page 7: “Immigrants live in misery.” Don’t even think about moving there! They killed a Chinesse student last year who went there!
The first thing they bring up is the number of guns in the US and how much ammo we bought. They then go into gun deaths and such, but it interesting that they start out with how armed we are. Kind of hits a nerve with them I guess.
This could have been written by a left-winger here. (I actually think it was written by someone here, the Engrish is to good and doesn’t flow like a translation.) They also have all the citiations from the Wash Post and NYT along with all the usual lefty groups.
I think someone like Glenn Beck should have a show where they take the Democratic plank from the 2008 election and do blind side by sides with this and see if people can tell the Chi-Com propoganda from the Democratic party official platform. Kind of like when Rush did exceprts from the Una-bomber manifesto and Al Gore “Earth in the Balance” and defied people to guess which they were from.

I’ve actaully been to China and they people where very friendly. They all seemed more worried about how to manage growth than on global domination. Their political class is another thing though.

The Chinese who are dumb enough to believe what their government says will maybe stay there, instead of becoming illegal immigrants here. This can only work to our benefit.

Given that it’s a nation that has a long history of shooting political dissidents, one can understand why they object so strenuously to civilian possession of firearms. Interestingly enough, that murder of a Chinese citizen by another Chinese citizen happened in a gun free zone. One wonders what the outcome would have been if the Chinese murderer had tried that act in close proximity to someone who was carrying a concealed weapon.

It’s much the same situation, in my estimation, that was seen during the Golden Decade in China in the early 20th century. Entrepreneurs burst onto the scene and started using western free market ideas to industrialize and modernize China, and in the process produced great fortunes for themselves. In foreign treaty concessions like Shanghai where they were protected from the central state and the political unrest that accompanied the warlord period the standard of living went through the roof in those areas as Chinese from all walks of life networked and made fortunes.
Of course, none of that is going to be found in Chinese history books…
The average Chinese person is probably keenly interested in making a better life for themselves and their families now that there are opportunities opening up all over China. This is a big change from just 30 years ago when they were facing very real threats of starvation due to the utter failure of the Maoist state at managing an economy. (Socialists who run an economy into the ground…sound familiar?)
The political types are interested in a growing economy because they know it is the path to international power. Economic powerhouses can afford to be military powerhouses…and can dictate terms to the rest of the world.
Could it be that the reason the Chinese government is so anxious to put this narrative forward is that they’re getting tired of losing their best and brightest who all want to come to the United States for education and make a life for themselves here…rather than there?

i mean sure, criminals are scary, but the number of citizens killed by their own gov. in the 20th century is around 5000 a day on average… that’s some scary shit.

I lived in China for 5 years and it fucking sucks. As a “foreigner” I lived in relative luxury and it still fucking sucks. This was back in the mid-90’s when I was in high school but I can’t imagine things have gotten much better. Well it can really only get better from that kind of baseline LOL. Here’s the stuff that really stuck out:
Horrid pollution. The whole city stinks. Large parts of the city would be deemed unsuitable for human living by normal standards because it smelled like open sewers. During the rainy season… well let’s say the real sewers overflow into the streets.
Rude arrogant dickwards everywhere. Yeah at a personal level there’s plenty of nice people probably, but in the street, most people are total assholes who will rip you off with a smile. I suspect the misery of the daily grind makes them lash out at the slightest offense. Also, all of them are horrible racists. I am Chinese so when I call other Chinese people racist, it’s really bad.
Complete lack of civil rights. I find it amusing the Chinese rag even mentioned civil rights. I’m not a fan of the current situation of civil liberties in the US but China still hasn’t legalized private property. All property is technically “on loan” from the state. People can have their homes and property seized with zero justification. New London CT would be green with envy LOL.
I’m not even going to talk about the media and press. It’s hopeless.
Chinese society has been completely brainwashed by the communist party to accept the state as all-knowing. The degree to which the average Chinese serf will defend their horrid government for all their crimes is amazing. American statists have nothing on the Chinese.
Then there’s the usual hodgepodge of complaints. Shitty consumer goods made by prison slave labor, poisonous milk and paint, outright theft of US intellectual property, whatever.
I will never go back to China, not even to visit my parents.
At once I am sorry for that & happy that you have made a new life here. Of course I don’t know how long you’ve been here, but it is never too late for welcome . . . . so. . . . welcome!
